Doing things like this makes owning a Mini or any other sporty type car worth owning. """JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT"""

On events like this it don't matter to me what car wins. It is the fun of watching the cars perform that really matters.
having fun and calling out Porsche like a "napoleon complexed" punk at a bar are 2 different things. But.......it's advertising..........right?

Don't get me wrong, I love the Mini, it's why we have worked so hard to beat Porsche's in TTA which we have done. No other Mini has done that before or Z06s for that matter. People always ask me why I don't race something else................ my response is: Anyone can make a Porsche or Vette fast. Making a Mini fast is a other kettle of fish.............

On that track, which is more like an autocross than a real track, it goes without saying that two seconds is an eternity....

This is why I love you Jan! I actually hope to own a Porsche 911 in the future, but I think I would much rather track a MINI.

At least the President of our motor car company is a stand up guy. As promised, even though Porsche didn't accept the challenge, here's Jim and his son at MOT this weekend.

I just wish they would have spent that money on a race program where REAL racing was involved to better the car and not a PR stunt

the amount of money spent could have funded 2 cars easily for an entire season

MINI, the brand, is still young. BMW is not going to let MINI dip into their kool-aid by racing. Seriously, BMW already had a small car in their past. Quite frankly we could be driving new, modern Isettas. On the other hand, BMW eyed struggling Rover and saw potential in a car that originally was created for utilitarian efficiency, but turned out to be downright fun. They modernized the car and that's what we have today. The car was designed without exaggerating the hp numbers. It was given just the right amount of hp for a fun and economical drive. I'm sure BMW could have sourced a larger displacement four banger and turboed the heck out of it given it gratitious amounts of hp much like the Mazda Speed 3. They didn't and so it's up to people like Jan to bring out the beast in these cars 'cus seriously, JCW is kind of a joke. Maybe one day we'll see MINI really race. Until then, MINI has some serious growing up to do.
