Love the car and love the plate! I spent last night looking at personalized plates and the best one I came up with was our Ky Horse plate. It has a photo of a horse on the left and in the middle I thought ****. (Yes that is a 5 but looks like an S so you would have horse ****.....which anyone who has ever owned a horse knows you have by the ton!)
Clever! But, DMV employees are on the look-out for those kinds of messages, and even in Kentucky, they will pick up on it and deny the request. It's worth trying...just have other backup requests.

Yup...there was a plate request that made national news a few years back. I think it was from Colorado. The request was from a vegetarian/vegan who wanted ILUVTOFU. It wasn't approved...apparently the person at the DMV couldn't conceive of someone loving tofu and thought it implied something else.🤭
On the other hand, if there's a state that would allow HORSE5HIT, it would have to be Kentucky. 😁
Not today, but not long ago either since weather finally allowed it... Neuspeed RSe52 18x7.5+45 with 215-40-18 Conti ExtremeContact Sport tires. Getting "Poppy" closer to the OEM+ build I want for this fun/practical little red wagon!
Although my Clubman S remains unnamed. I have been referring to her as a she, so apparently if and when she is named, it will be a woman's. It is all done but delivery which will happen (fingers crossed) on Tuesday and so next week she will have a little brother (older but smaller!). And just as the Clubman seems to be called her when I speak, the 2015 Roadster JCW which is coming to share the garage has been from the start referred to as masculine. I have no idea how or why we end up using one pronoun over the other when speaking about our cars, but I have found that the more you like your car, the more likely you are to do so. It must harken back to when I was young and my parents sold the car without giving me a chance to say goodby and I was so upset (I was 4!) and convinced I had hurt "her" feelings. So this week in addition to changing the floor mats, I bought my Clubman a Roadster. Will take photos of the two together, once he arrives! 2015 Roadster JCW, 13,362 miles coming to keep the Clubman S company. Looks really good from the rear end! The interior looks like new!
Been doing some preventative maintenance the past week with changing of the following:
Supercharger service (seals, gaskets, and new oil)
Water pump
Bypass valve
Belt Tensioner
Idler Pulley
Fan Speed Resistor
Intake Manifold Gasket
After looking over the supercharger itself, and noticing how good of shape it is despite 165k miles on it, I decided to give in, and get the 15% reduction pulley. I hope to have this all installed later this week. I also ordered a new throttle body gasket as it's another one of those while you're there items. I have not soldered the new wires for the fan resistor yet as I don't have any solder lying around, but I'll be getting that tomorrow.
My hope is to have everything done, plus the coolant all flushed by the end of the week, and then I can drive Egan again!
I almost always have 2 dogs & while at this time I have only my 8 year old Havanese, who is black & white, the major issue traveling with my dogs is that they are really bothered by the sun at times. While they can move around a bit seeking shade, Carabella with her black fur seems to be particularly bothered. After looking at some of the tint jobs shown here, I decided to go for it and perhaps I would find benefits in addition to making the drive more pleasurable for my dogs.
I went with the Llumere Ceramic tint. In Ky. #2 is the darkest that can be on the front windows. I went with that but choose a darker shade #3 for the rear passenger windows, windows into the cargo area and the barn door windows. I am really pleased with how it came out.
I wasn't sure about the little valance you are permitted on the front glass, but as the dog's seat is generally in the front, decided to go ahead and have it done. As luck would have it the sun was going down on my way home and I was more than a little bit surprised at how much it helped me driving. You know that one angle where the sun sets and it is like the sun is shooting arrows of light into your eyes? By adjusting my seat a bit I was able to block the worst effect of that. While typically you just wait out the uncomfortable sunset and sunrise angle where it hurts your eyes, I have been in circumstances in Colorado where it was a safety concern as it almost blinded you.
This modification is one where form follows function and the outcome is as much cosmetically attractive as functional. If you are considering tinting, it is really helpful to see an actual similarly colored car with the tint you select already installed. (Again lucked out, the company Precision Tint had just completed a white small SUV with the tint I selected.) While the configuration apps on websites can help show how it looks if they have your make and color in the car list, there is nothing like seeing it on an actual car.
The dog who is prone to stand in front of the camera made it into the photo and I think it is hilarious how much she matches my Mini. This was a complete coincidence but what a hoot when your dog looks like your Mini! My 8 year old Havanese next to my Mini with newly tinted windows. The only modification selected to make the dogs more comfortable when out motoring. The small valance across the front window, made a surprisingly large effect on blocking the strong rays from the setting sun. Llumere Ceramic #3 on passenger and rear windows. It is dark, but the way it reflected the sky was truly lovely and am super pleased with the end result.
Commented in the other thread but great you are picking this amazing rare little machine up and it sounds like she will be going to a good home!
Regarding names/pronouns... it's odd isn't it, but you just know the name after a while spent with a car. My British Racing Green 1995 NA miata is "Pip the Pipper" or just "Pip" (and came with that name from the prior owner of 20 years). And after picking up the Chili red R55 Clubman S gave it some time and then it was pretty clear her name is "Poppy". On the other extreme are cars that we just never bother naming... I have had a number of cars with great performance numbers but lacking "personality" overall so never qualified for a name. Good cars, but nameless. The MINIs have all had names though... loads of personality.

Not today...but several months in the works.
PIcked up a used Aero Kit here on NAM, custom painted to 'Iced Hot Chocolate Metallic -B49'...took four attempts to get the paint just right...the blue flake was the difficult part to match with the factory paint.
Dentless Paint Repair 90% done. Lower grill fix and driving lights pending a bumper reinforcement swap...I need that license mounted on the tow hook. Not drilling holes into this bumper cover.
Added the GP2 diffuser, all underbody paneling: belly pan install scheduled for this weekend while I swap out the transfer case oil.
My headlight had broken tabs...picked up a 25w, silver pair, from ESC 'scratch and dent' ...gutted, painted and swapped all the internals...worked great!
Need to work on the plasti-dipping of the headlight trim...that's tonight!
Will finish this up with ceramic coating once the paint correction is complete.
Got me some new summer tyres fitted, Maxxis Premitra HP in 205/45/16 on my Japan Racing JR3 16x7 wheels. Need to get it lowered, as it looks like im driving around with High travel suspension now :P
So it's done, i gave a deposit on a CPO 2018 Cooper S six speed manual car, moonwalk grey, slick roof, JCW interior package, HK sound.
I pick it up Saturday this should be a fun run back home
Placed mods thus far, JCW BBK, JCW race spoke wheels in silver, JCW rear spoiler and maybe an exhaust. The older I get the less extreme I go. I'm pretty sure the limits of this car stock are enough for me to get in trouble
