"REV" wireless OBDII for iPhone
I like mine... like Keysersozeh said it might not be as responsive as a gauge but it satisfies me. I get the readings i'm after and the instant installation works for me :-)
I'd rate it 8/10

Well if they both offer the same accuracy and features, then I would go with the Kiwi and REV. However, I have heard of some people that were not satisfied with the setup. I have heard no negative feedback about the Scanguage, other than it looks like original gameboy graphics. The Kiwi seems like a more sustainable setup as Iphone applications improve. Tough to beat the always working scanguage though. I just can't decide.

I just purchsed it through amazon. Gets here tomorrow. $115 with overnight air! Not so bad considering now I don't need to purchase a car charger for my iphone either. I will let you all know how it works.

Hi,
I'm interested in how often the Kiwi data refreshes with a Mini & iPhone app.
I've read that with some cars it only updates every 10 secs, with some it's much more like real-time.
How is it with the Mini (taking revs as an example)?

@ snips, on my ipod touch with the kiwi the rpm appears realtime and matches the MINI tacho one to one.
I think the refresh is more than adequate but I have not run the latest version since I am not tracking or tuning these past few months.

I'll add my 2 cents to this thread. Got my Kiwi Monday and it literally took the minute they said in the instructions to set it up. They gave the ip address stuff to input on the quick install pamphlet and I had no problems getting the iphone (w/Rev software) communicating.
On one occasion after work I had to set the iphone to the right wifi connection, (PLX devices i think), because it was still connected to my office network wifi.
Couple of things I noticed :
The on/off switch is a slide switch that is easy to turn on & off (was worried after reading some posts). Also this does run the battery down fast.
Couple of questions:
Is there a way to select when you want to make a timed 0-60 run? It seems to just always count up from zero mph until 60, unless it times out because i never get to 60.
Also, I'm trying to do a cheap autocross video/data integration (I've been drooling over btwyx 's videos). I'm hoping that info will help me improve quicker on my newest driving passion since getting the MINI. Can a poor guy with only a Flip camera and limited computer experience ever hope to do it without spending $1500/$2000 on the made for TV
packages?
Lastly, I want to thank all the contributors on this and other threads that make trying all these new toys & mods a much better (and more informed) experience!!

I fianlly got my KIWI after waiting for two months. So far so good. I've had the connectivity issue here and there but I haven't tried turning off 3G so I'll do that today to see. Overall, it looks like its maybe a tenth of a sec off from real time. But cool thing is seeing all that info
I can't get it to show me whp or torque eventhough I've put in the weight. maybe I'm not driving it long enough??? But boost gauge shows 13.2 psi That sounds like much (I think) without a tune. But I do have a catless DP, would that make such a difference from stock? I had my car dyno'ed but I think it wasn't calibrated correctly or there wasn't enough air being supplied (basically an electric leaf blower to the intake and a small box like semi industrial fan)
Overall I think its a good buy if you want bunch of gauges and info and ability to clear codes without having to buy separate gauges and pods and ports to plug into and then installing everything.
my three cents

I ended up getting the rev app full version, and the plx kiwi wifi. I had troubles getting the app to work but i emailed dev toaster (the makers of rev2), and they emailed me the settings for my iPhone 4, I have them if anyone needs them. JUST PM ME!
iPhone network settings need to be:
IP Address: 192.168.0.11
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.0.10
Rev hardware settings need to be:
Automatic Kiwi Wifi
-- or --
Manual IP Address: 192.168.0.10 port: 35000

Just bought this setup from Fryes. Took longer to checkout due to the PLX being a "special order" item...BS
It didn't connect without turning the ignition to "on" but once it did I was able to see the 3 codes (cat, misfire #3, faulty o2), clear them and get out on the road. Luckily they didn't trip the CEL again after 15 miles. Does anyone know the rough mileage needed to make sure the emissions people wont be able to detect the past codes? I was hoping to get my emissions done tomorrow.
Cant wait to really get into this thing...neat technology

Just a quick heads up...because it'll probably be for a limited time only but right now the app for iPhones: DashCommand – OBD-II gauge dashboards, scan tool, and vehicle diagnostics is 'on sale' for just $9.99 vs. $49.99 usually.
iTunes: http://appshopper.com/link/dashcommand
Keep in mind it also needs a way to communicate with the OBD II (wired or via Bluetooth)

Torque for Android is $4.99. Just sayin...
Now the thread's been resurrected, I've moved on from using Rev. I now use Harry's Lap Timer. I've got a Gopoint BT1 BlueTooth dongle, and an external GPS receiver. Harry's will do fancy graphic data overlays if you want it, but now I'm using multiple cameras for autocross I'm using Final Cut Pro to do the video and RaceRender to add the data (now there's Mac version).
Here's some video. Harry's doing the data overlay for autocross: http://btwyx.com/Movies/AxJun13OakBest.mov
And Race Render for autocross: http://btwyx.com/Movies/AxJun13MaBBest.mov
And Race Render for a track day: http://btwyx.com/Movies/LagunaOct13Best.mov

Btwyx, I have been enjoying reading your track day writeups and watching your videos. I have some work to do to catch up to you - my best at MRLS is a 2:06.
Isn't it cool that there's all these great apps available for track days - for Android I have used RaceChrono with my BT-OBD2 adapter, and then RaceRender to integrate with the GoPro video. For the cost of an app and the adapter we have performance logging that used to be big $ for pro race teams.
I do need to get a faster GPS though - what do you use? I'm looking at the Qstarz BT-Q818XT 10Hz unit.

I use the GPS unit Harry recommend on his compatibility page. I've got the XGPS150. I'm trying not to upgrade to the next version, the XGPS160 which logs twice as fast (at 10Hz).
I've sometimes wondered if I should get a "real" data system but nothing I've seen gives you the immediacy of using Harry's. I can look at the data between Autocross runs on the phone, in order to plan my next run.
