Intercooler upgrade

My 05 mini is tuned to about 212 hp and I was wanting to know how much more hp I could potentially achieve from a Forge intercooler. I've seen the claims of 29% decrease in temperature from several sites. Can anyone tell me what if any hp that equates to... If there are any tuning mechanics out there your knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

intercoolers on MINIs typically do not free up or make more HP. The major performance enhancement you will see with a good intercooler upgrade is more consistent HP numbers for a longer period of time because the intercooler reduces heatsoak. You also might be able to hold on to the HP you are making when the weather is really hot becasue the larger cooler will be more effecient at cooling down the hotter intake charge.

On a gen1...
Minimal...there is even debate due to psi drop of that unit...
The favored unit has been the GP...it has about 2 more rows to increase capacity, still is light for near instant recovery from heatsoak, and fits in the OEM spot...
A bigger ic on a gen1 is more about mataining your HP under challenging conditions IMO....so not loosing hp on a hot day....than making more hp....
For the same $$, many other things can get you more gains...with a retune of course...

And just a reminder...
A ic in the stock spot that "resists heatsoak" will also take longer to recover due to its larger mass...only way around this is to move the ic, or switch to water/air....
I bet this is where they get their "lower" temp from..from a launch/idle at heatsoak....but like I said...stock is so light...a few moments of airflow...and life is good...a heavy (copper was used by some) ic can a resists heatsoak at a stop a bit longer....but that heat must be radiated....

As far as HP is concerned, remember, Intercoolers aren't HP Builders, they're HP Retainers.

So unless you think you're having issues in "that" area, an upgrade won't really do that much, but if so...Ditto on Zippy's posts.
