"REV" wireless OBDII for iPhone
uMouse, you appear to be in full hacker mode. Not sure how you found the diagnostic mode in Rev, but cool.
Anyway, I have to ask since your signature does not tell me.
What year and model of MINI are you trying to make the Plx/Rev. combo work with?
If an 09, I can try in on my friends 09 JCW, my 07 syncs and data collects without any drama.
I will try it on my old 01 Ford to see if it has any drama, too.
I will get back to you, next day or so. If I do not, I have gone racing.

Thameth, OkieSnake,
Sorry I didn't see your posts earlier... yes my phone was totally jailbroken... but it's not anymore. Don't really think that's the issue. The REV logfiles look the same before and after.
Now that I think about it... the very first 2 times I connected the PLX Mini made a bleep and displayed an exclamation mark for a couple seconds then disappeared... it hasn't complained since ... but then it hasn't gotten better either.

The Kiwi Wifi is terminated in the little black box so I can't check continuity on it without opening the box... if it goes that far then I'll just have to ask PLX folks to send me another.
BTW... First thing I did was call PLX support.. and they said it sounds like a software issue with REX... so now I've been in dialog with REX support, via email.
Oh... no love even after I disconnected the Mini battery for couple hours. We'll see.... what REX's response is for not scanning Protocol 3.

Have you had the opportunity to try another device with the Plx wifi? Another iphone of a friend and itouch unit?
If it works on a new unit, then your iphone is the culprit.
If not get Plx to send you a new wifi, 30 day rule.

And the beat goes on...
I picked up a CAN ODB-II reader from Harbor Freight tonight ... it worked just fine in the Mini.
So... where does that leave me?
1) Iphone+rev "works" in all cars tested ... '97 honda's and '06 MC cabrio
2) Iphone+rev does not work in my '09 R56
3) Cen Tec CAN OBDII reader works in all cars... able to see voltage and realtime RPM, etc.
It looks like the PLX has something wrong with it. I'll have to call REV support back and see wha they've decided about the logfile.

Anybody else who is successfully running REV with the PLX on a Jailbroken iPhone/iTouch?
I don't see why not.... technically.... But the one person having problems with the system in this thread is trying it on an 09 MCS. Though current consensus is that it may be a hardware problem with the wireless OBD, but I guess we'll see.

One problem I have had on the ipod touch is sending my saved runs to my computer via the email interface. It appears the app is trying to continue data sampling and does not allow me to get the tools menu bar at the bottom of the app.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it takes many attempts. At the time I'm doing this my ipod is connected to my home wireless network, not to the PLX.
Also had the opportunity to record boost for one of my other club members in his modded R53, he was impressed since he does not have a boost gauge.

No it's still not working. Toaster is debugging it. It appears that the PLX won't correctly identify which CAN protocol to use... Forcing it to a protocol only results in bus errors....
I need to know if anyone can test this in their 09 r56.

I'll hopefully be ordering the PLX tmrw when they get more stock..... I can't wait! I also hope that there isn't a problem with 09'+ MCS's because I plan on getting a 2010 MCS at the end of this year when they come out.
does this connector work for my car? i dont want to go ahead and buy it and end up with 150dlls spent and a non functioning OBD II wifi thingy
my car is a 2008 euro spec MCS

Not an expert here, but I think most OBDII ports have been standardized. I would give the seller a call and have them tell you if it will fit or not, although I believe it will. My manual says the OBDII port (call the Socket for Onboard Diagnosis OBD in Mini talk) is to the left of the driver's side, on the bottom of the instrument panel.
Well I finally picked this up and started playing with it. So far its great! Can't wait to try it out at an autocross, they have to make it so you can record more than just three parameters though!
I'll also try to find an R56 MINI and see how well it works with the newer cars. Anybody else notice their Kiwi Wifi module getting pretty hot after a while?
I'm using it on a 2005 MCS with an original Jailbroken 16GB iPhone running 3.0.

Okay, sorry for the long lapse between updates but the latest is ... this combination of REV + kiwi wifi does not work on my 09 MCS.
Neither does the new Dashcommand app that was released today.
REV developers are is still looking into it and their latest reply (dated today) says they are bringing in an 09 MCS for testing.. hopefully will hear something in a week or so.
So far have not heard from any NAM members that can run this on an '09.

Just got the Kiwi today and got it working with my 3GS and 07 MCS. Great piece (or combo I guess) of technology!
It is running hot and even after switching the ignition off and pulling out the keyfob the Kiwi stays on (glows red).
Does it switch off after a while or do I need to move the little switch to turn it off so it won't drain the battery ?

I saw some earlier posts about RAM mounts, just wondering if people have found that those are "spirited driving" ready? If not any reccomendations? Looking to have window mounted or mounted on the dash.
