Service/repair options for new MINI

Can you take your new MINI to any dealership for warranty repairs/service or just the dealership where you purchased it? For example, my nearest U.S. dealer is 4 hours away, but there's one 1 1/2 hours away in Canada. Can I take it to the Canadian dealership for my warranty service? Or let's say I get the car and a week later I discover the sunroof doesn't open, do I need to take it back to the dealership where I purchased or can I go to the closer one? Does the fact that the closer one is in Canada make a difference?

Thanks!

As far as the states are concerned I've taken my Cooper to 3 different dealerships since it was new. I would call the dealership in Canada just to make sure though.

Romo,
You can take your Mini to any authorized MINI dealership for warranty/service work in the U.S. but being that Canada is a different country your best bet is to contact MINI USA Customer Service to find out for sure 1-866-MINI-4ME (646-4463) or 1-866-ASK-MINI (275-6464).

i believe the 4/50 warranty and all related work covers you in all of North America, including Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. About the mtce, however, Im not sure.

Okay, I'll bite--what's "mtce"?

MTCE

Acronym Definition
Mtce Maintenance
MTCE Mobile Telecommunications Company of Esfahan (Iran)
MTCE Metric Tons Carbon Equivalent
MTCE Metta Trust for Children's Education
MTCE Motorcycle Touring Club Europe
MTCe Multimatic Technical Centre Europe
MTCE Mega Tonnes of Coal Equivalent
MTCE Maritime Technology Center of Excellence
MTCE Michigan Transit Center for Excellence
MTCE Major Training Command Experiment
Most likely the top definition
and referring to the 36 month MINI Dealer provided free maintenance program.

Sure that it would depend on relationship between MINI-USA and MINI-Canada for any Warranty Support issue.

Recall a MINI-Mexico owner (on NAM) who had warranty problems and was able to transfer his warranty from MINI-Mexico to MINI-USA.

I would make inquiry to both MINI-USA And that Canadian MINI Dealership (who has to collect from MINI for their Warranty parts and labor).

MINI USA says all warranty work can be done in Canada, but maintenance needs to be done at a US dealership to be covered, or it can be done in Canada and paid for. Good to know.

Great to hear that

Plus since MINI goes by the CBS for routine factory maintenance it would be just an annual visit unless you drive a lot.
