Small Thought #25

I know a lot has been said lately about "Saving the Wave" and I, for one, am a big supporter of the wave. But I think MINIUSA knew the wave may die out within a short time just after the U.S. introduction of the MINI back in '02.They stated this in #25 of a series promtional commentaries named "Small Thoughts....." They posted these posters at Citgo/Fina/AMOCO/Marathon petrol stations in '03 and '04. I was the lucky to be the recipient of one of those laminated promotional posters and I thought it was time to share #25 as it was my favorite Small Thought.

Quoted from MINIUSA -

"MINI owners brought back the friendly tradition of waving to each other as the pass by. Now, it may be us but is the happening less and less? We're not sure. But let's not lose the waving. Keep it up. And if you don't have a MINI, that's okay. Next time you're motoring just wave to somebody. For no reason at all. That's how movements work. They start small. LET'S MOTOR."

Keep the wave going! Enough said.

In regards to waving it seems things have not changed much since '02. At least the wave is still around...yay for us!!!!

Maybe it's just a Southern thing but I've always waved at people when in town. It just seems the natural thing to do when cruising between stoplights. Hard to do on the interstate though.

We have a friend who lives on an island. Every inhabitant waves at every single car they encounter. I think it's how they sort out the tourists, until the tourists catch on.

I reflexively lifted a hand at another MINI on my test drive. The MA said, "I guess I can cross "the wave" off the pre-delivery checklist."

Remember how MINI literature used to suggest hiding your key back behind one of the jacking blocks if you had to be away from your car. How convenient!!! Did anybody every do this....seemed rather risky.
