I took my car into the shop today for some minor stuff. It's all covered under warranty so I they provided me with a loaner.
However, they were out of MINI loaners and had to rent me a car. The only two options they had were a Suburban or a minivan. I went ahead with the minivan because it's probably uses less gas. I guess I should be happy.
Ungrateful? Maybe. Bumbed? Definitely.

look on the bright side-- now when you talk smack about Minivans, and some wiseguy says, "how would you know? when was the last time you were even *in* a minivan?" you can say, "first week of december 07".
(My last loaner was some sort of Volvo- if that tells you what kind of impression it left on me).

Actually thanks for preparing me. I just assumed that if they didn't have any MINIs, I'd get a BMW... Would they at least put Bonnet stripes on the Suburban?

At Midwestern Mini in Columbus I've either had a MINI (most times an S) or a 3 series BMW as a loaner.

BTW, my car was completed sooner than they expected. I have my MINI back! I couldn't wait to get out of that van.
I've always expected they would give me a BMW as a loaner to try to get me to move up. It would just about work too as there are BMWs much more similar to my wifes Saab 9-5 Aero than the Clubman. I keep trying to interest her in it but I've had no luck. Maybe I should tell her I want to have a serious talk about Chocolate . . . ?
Meanwhile most of my trips in have been to fix the convertible top. The silly MINI dealer, they loaned me a convertible twice which only confirmed for me exactly how a working top works. I did get an R56 once . . . got to say it is a very nice car.

I live 47 miles from my dealer and I was getting my flywheel replaced under warranty. I had to schedule my service more than 2 weeks in advance but I did get a MINI loaner. It was an S but it was an automatic. It was ok but it was a stripped down car and I was VERY happy to get mine back!
