Motoring Music

So I'm curious... what does anyone listen to when they're motoring?

The best CD I've found while motoring:

Original Pirate Material- The Streets (UK Rap)

It just feels good to listen to music from the UK when driving a MINI, doesn't it?

On my way up to my parents' house for Thanksgiving, I had The Kinks going. Talk about old school UK

I don't make any claims to "best", but my current fave is Herb Alpert's "Rise" - the whole album, but the song especially.

For what it's worth, Top Gear proclaimed Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" as the best driving song of all time. I can't listen to that song without thinking of that awesome scene from Shaun of the Dead...

So glad that they've "settled" that.

As for UK sounds ...

The Beatles' Rubber Soul seems to well represent the British Invasion. James Hunter's People Gonna Talk is a great new take on some old soul styles (think Jackie Wilson).

Leave it to the Brits to take some American musical ideas and turn them around into something even more intersting. But, I'm a hopless eclectic. So, I'm listening to all kinds of things in my MINI ...

Peace !

Listened to "Cult of Personality" by Living Colour on the iPod on my way to work this morning. It added about 10 to my MPH. All good.

I like more trancey beats while driving around. I have my Zune connected to the Aux jack and a pretty good list, my favourite though is Tiësto.

Hey, I'm only 22 and I think both of those songs kick azz. They're almost as good as Alice Cooper's No More Mr. Nice Guy.

I would be hard-pressed to name one CD or song that I enjoy listening to while motoring. Its like my ex always was asking me "if you stranded on a deserted island which 5 songs would you like to have with you?". The debate went on for years! Today I enjoyed Tori Amos - Big Wheels but tomorrow, who knows. Perhaps I'm just fickle.

Just keep an eye and ear open for a BRG R50. If it has Born in the USA torturing the factory speakers, thats me.

Without a question anything by Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks (you should
be able to remember the early 70's for this one!)

+1.
My iPod plays continuous trance. Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, DJ Discovery. If it has a good beat, I am listening to it while driving.

M.I.A. - Kala
Flogging Molly - any album

those are my personal favorites for driving music. M.I.A.'s song Mango Pickle Down River is pretty freaking sweet.
