James Blunt’s MINI trouble
James Blunt’s MINI trouble
A POLLUTION-free electric Mini Cooper worth £½million that was lent to JAMES BLUNT has been taken off him again – after he thrashed it to pieces.
The car, one of only two in the world, was developed by Nasa and ran on state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries.
James, who had been driving it since May, said: “There was no petrol, no fumes and it was the fastest car I’ve ever been in – totally silent, like a stealth Mini.
"That was the start of the problem.
“I didn’t crash it but I did break it and I was going too fast.
"The car is now going into production and will be on sale from next year.
“I’m sure they’ve learnt a lot from my mistakes!”

Pardon my ignorance, but who is JAMES BLUNT?
I don't know either, but I'd say he is a lucky bastard to get to play with that toy!
Beyond being a guy who busted a million dollar MINI, I don't know.
Checking Google he's a singer, and he's dating Reese Witherspoon, so he is a lucky bastard....

James Blunt is a singer who had a big hit with the song "You're Beautiful." He was all over the media (featured on CBS Sunday Morning a while back) in the last year or so. I read way too many music media magazines...long story...
Anyway...I can imagine the electric MINI is very fast. Have you heard of this one? http://www.teslamotors.com/ Check out that acceleration curve...
Love the Lotus body....
If they start selling these electric MINIs I want one...sign me up now...the Telsa is way too expensive
and I hear they have at least a 1.5 year wait list for buyers.

Thanks for the info.
BTW, is this guy a one-hit wonder?

He's much bigger in the UK than he is in the US, but he's far from a one-hit wonder. I believe his debut album was the top-seller in the UK for 2005, and he's just released his second album to very favourable reviews. From his first album, the only songs I heard on the radio here a lot were "High", "You're Beautiful" and "Goodbye My Lover". I was in London over Christmas in 2005, and I also heard "No Bravery" and "So Long Jimmy" on the radio a lot while I was there.
I have both of his albums, and his first album is one of those rarities where I really like every single song on the album. I can't think of too many (non-compilation) albums that fall in that category for me. Off the top of my head, there's Led Zeppelin's fourth album, Paul Simon's "Graceland", James Blunt's "Back to Bedlam", John Hiatt's "Perfectly Good Guitar", and Bob Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks".

Yeah that is CRAZY!!! There is a local outfit in the Chicagoland area that can convert a MINI to electric for about $5000.00. Sure, it uses lead acid cells and you trade performance for range but it is a cool thought. If I had a commute that was about 50 miles round trip per day I would do this in a second, however I have no commute anymore so it is just a pipe dream.
