It's "custom" enough for me.

I used to spend a lot of money on car mods. Now I spend it on travel. The cars and the mods come and go but you always keep the memories about the trips.
Smart man. It's a depreciating asset after all. I've only added Koni FSDs and an H&R rear sway bar (that I won't remove). That's enough as I'm sure I'll trade it in about 18 months for a 1 series or TT (before I leave Germany). My mods will only help me sell it. Drive mine vs. a MCS without FSDs and that's all it'll take.

This may be a very stupid question but making massive changes like this ... shouldnt the car ALREADY have this stuff? Somebody ought to tell MINI....

I just made a list that didnt include performance upgrades for my auto insurance, and I had over 10k in non-perfomance upgrades. I dont think I want to know the total with the performance upgrades.

Yup, some of us are long past $10K and even $20K. More like $25K+! Yikes!

$10K in non performance mods? It's been done certainly-
The aerokit painted and installed, PIAA rally lights, 18" rims,
upgraded racing seats (in a non tracked MINI) or upgraded interior upholstery, audio/video upgrades, or custom paint all would add up.:impatient

It's more like fun money to make you happy-

Some pics:

Now, the car is a bit lighter, with some of the pieces in the pic no longer in place. I plan to fabricate a new aluminum dash for this season and ditch more weight.

Here is the car sans graphics:

And the most current, though already out of date photo of the engine bay:

OK, so there is more in store, and I plan on spending another 15K or so on the motor and body panels, but you get the idea!

Enjoy

Randy, your car is a masterpiece; but it should be -- it represents the interests of WMS!

This question may seem inconsequential, but in retrospect, would you order the sunroof again? I ask this because, apparently, the unit adds nearly 53Ibs of extra weight to the highest point of the car, presumably raising the centre of gravity.

That said, have you done anything about that extra weight up top? A couple years back I came accross this, somewhat crude, carbon fiber solution on the Sport Compact Car Magazine website (http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/pr...old/index.html):

What think you? Would something like this be worth doing to The Mule?

i would say probably not u need the entire roof to be CF! JK man that's pretty sweet.

Yea I am definetly thinking of one of those Gintani Intercoolers. I take it this is prototype/beta Randy? IT IS SWEET NOW I HAVE YET SOMETHING ELSE TO SPEND MY MONEY ON FROM WEBB MOTORSPORTS! The only thing I am confused on is where the normal intercooler mounts went and why does there seem to be so much missing from Randy's engine bay?

The intercooler is integrated with the manifold. This deletes the need for the runners to and from the top mount, and the air-air intercooler. I also trimmed the front plastic stuff and removed several seals that are a good idea on a street car.

Hope that helps!

Wait I'm confused if they are a good idea why did you remove them? This must have some awesome horsepower gains, it just seems to make the system more efficient, PLUS it's RED!

Randy, I too was contemplating trimming (Dremel) the front plastic above the radiator that forms a seal against the inside of the bonnet. The reason or benefit that I see would be for additional air flow into the engine bay for cooling...

But if more air is re-routed there, less is going where it went previously, and the best I could discern, that would be through the radiator. With the original seal in place, it seems that it would make fore more positive pressure in front of the radiator, and more air getting directed through it...

Curious to know your thoughts and rationalization as I too like the idea, but not at the expense of a less efficient coolant system. Also, for those of us who still have a top mount IC (99% of the MCS world ), I was wondering if the introduction of these new air flow dynamics will negatively impact the air flow via the bonnet scoop down through the IC, OR somehow improve it by helping "clear" the trapped air under the IC's tight space so it doesn't buffet upwards, making it more effective due improved flow-through...

Just some considerations and thoughts... Thanks, as always.

Well, I guess (according to some of the earlier posts) I'm a retard.
JCW kit
JCW brakes
JCW wheels
JCW spoiler
JCW strut tower brace
M7 springs
Aero kit
Avon tires
Custom painting, powder coating, many other things as well, and this car isn't even here yet! Next week will be a busy one (my new MINI is hitting the port on the 26th).
