I'll easy do 5K by the time I'm ready. I think with the Aero kit I now want it will put me closer to 10 than I was intending to be before the TURBO sent me over the mark.

Got my MCS on Nov18th. Have 1400 miles on it.

And:

Aerokit: 1600
Whalen: 100
Promini Short Shifter: 139
Toggle Switches: 60
H-Sport Springs: 225
H-Sport Rear Sway Bar: 230
H-Sport Control Arms: 242
Skid Plate: 90
Custom Stripes and Sunroof Cover: 340

Add about 250 for shipping... and we get only about 3275. Dang, my wife put a 35K limit on mini spending (including of course, the mini). I didnt realize I had so much room left to play with. Lookout performance mods.

Chuck

Chuck,
You have a ways to go before you get close to 35K! Wow- what a limit. Even I am under that (by a little).
Give us an update when you are ready.

JBOO,

You are off to a good start (nice audio upgrades).

What could push you over $10K would be:
A bunch of power mods-pulley/ECU/larger intercooler/throttlebody
Exhaust upgrades-Header/Cat-back
Suspension upgrades-rear swaybar/rear control arms
Stage one brake upgrade-brake pads/rotors/brake lines/brake fluid
Exterior upgrades- aero body kit and painting

I came very close to busting $10K in accessories the day I took delivery of the car in January. That includes JCW kit, aero kit, et... It'll be a keeper for a long time to come.

$18,000 is fine and certainly not the most I have seen. I think serious upgraders will spend easily above $15,000 and some will go higher than $20,000 easy.

If you get enjoyment from your MINI then great. Go for it and enjoy. I've spent on the same order as you have and I don't do much else in terms of spending on other things. My lowly computer which I use to log on to NAM was built in Nov 1997. Since it's still running and it works OK I've saved $$. Plus the car I drove before my MINI was a van I owned from 1991 to 2003. If I get 10 more years of enjoyment from driving my MINI then I'll be happy.

I done done it, my previous total of $9904.99 is missing my first EVER buy for the little beast, a set of chrome mirror caps which I believe were $127.00 tax included, so there, done done the 10K deal at $10031.99. NOW I am impressed with myself..... This is all very, bery sick......how do I do this, how do we all do this....no wonder the industry set up this web site, we're collectively one hell of a market....I'm off to figure out what to sell YOU guys (persons of all kinds of persuasions possible, non gender specific noun, that one)

Well, I've been looking into autocross wheels and other stuff for SCCA solo 2 and it appears to be a bottomless pit for another $5000 to $10,000.

Stuff like:
Rollcage
Racing seats
Small lighter rims with very sticky tires
Suspension upgrades-coil overs and camber plates
Quaife LSD
More driving school!
This applies to MC and MCS alike.

Anybody else going nuts lately?

A rollcage is not required for Solo 2. However, if you are plannig on going Solo 1 you'll need a cage, external engine switch, nomex, and a fire extinguishing system. Of course, my brain is a little rusty as my brother's Solo 1 car was built back in the 80s.

Racing seats, Quaife, coil overs and new rims and tires are not necessary for Solo 2. Just run what ya brung. When I was racing back in the day, you pretty much got your car setup wired, then you do some changes to your car to see if it made a difference.
