Even if I just count each of the mods once, I'm pretty sure I'd make the club. When I count all the times I've tried different types of the same part, I know I'd be there!

Here's where the car currently sits:

Factory driving lights
Custom Webb/Leda fully adjustable coilovers with Hypercoil springs $1900
H-Sport camber plates $420
H-Sport stress brace $240
H-Sport rear adjustable camber links $400
H-Sport tubular swaybars $400
Alta adjustable droplinks front and rear $240
Powerflex bushings $120
Wheels and tires $2000 (two sets)
Webb stage 1 brake kit $775
Alta short shifter $199
UUC shift **** $100
Schroth MINI harness and pads $250
Alta intake $260
Webb big bore throttle body $460
15% supercharger pulley $200
Webb water-air intercooler $1050
M7 plasma booster $250
Nology plug wires $150
Denso IK22 spark plugs $70
Schrick cam $600
Milltek/London Stainless header $900
Alta cat-back exhaust $700
Alta oil catch can $120
Webb/Powerchip ECU $690

Other items on the car at one time:
BMP intake
Pipercross intake
Madness/Rogue intake
K&N Typhoon intake
Denso IK20 plugs
Accell plugs
Mania header
UUC exhaust
Milltek exhaust
Magnaflow exhaust
Borla exhaust
Quicksilver exhaust
Stebro exhaust
5 other throttle bodies
P&D camber plates
H&R spings
H-Sport springs
KW variant 2 coilovers
Madness rear swaybar (2 different ones)
Alta rear swaybar
Different H-Sport swaybar
Countless other items and set-ups....

Here is a pic of the mule:

A lot of this stuff was at cost, some of it wasn't, and some of it was free. The total is still over 10K, not including the blood, sweat and tears. I wouldn't trade it though!

Randy

OEM floor mats $90.00
OEM car cover $185.00
OEM Euro shelf $80.00
Glove box organizer $30.00
Cubby hole organizer $25.00
Total outlay of about $410.00

I’m done modifying as I only plan on keeping the MCS for another month or so as it has had too many problems and getting them resolved is even a bigger problem with only 70 dealers nation wide. My ’04 M3 with SMG went status 160 a couple of days ago so now the transport wait begins.

However, I wouldn’t call someone who enjoys modifying their Mini in a big way retarded. They are a fun car and if modifying it gives you enjoyment I say go for it. Life is too short not to have fun and enjoy the cars that come into your life in this all too short journey.

>>hey flangi...that does sound like a nice driving machine. can you please post some pics, particularly of the clear bra install.

The clear bra is well, clear- not much to see except up close it is a thick clear adhesive plastic layer that goes over the car's body.

>>i don't plan on spending that much initially when i p/u my mcs. but i guestimate ~$32k. that would include the jcw+, sports package, moonroof. other additions/modifications eventually would be roof racks, tint, seat covers, wheels/tires, springs, brakes, clear bra, racing stripes and stereo. i think when all is done i will definitely be a member.

Budget time!. Unless you want to be like me (you don't want to. Ask my wife-she says are you writing all this down??)(Yes Dear- I says and I scribble on the second page single spaced and growing daily).
Your MCS (not even here yet!) $est 26,000 plus.
JCW kit installed $6000
tint $200-250 max due to sunroof- tint it you live in the subtropics!
seat covers- aren't you reusing your MC covers? I guess not if the colors are different. How much? $400-500?
wheels/tires- very big ticket but I will spot you $2000+
springs- installed from $350 to $1000+ if you go with coil overs and more (includes other susp mods)
brakes- decide if stage 1 mods- if so up to $600-1000+, if big brakes then $2000-3000
clear bra- $200-300 est with installation
racing stripes - $200-300 with installation
stereo.- for you if you get your friend to help you maybe $3000 and up to $6000 if you are out of control (go see Ruel) Add video? Gonna cost you more!
Total Damage potential= $39,000 to $41,000+ Be careful out there!
By the way that would not be a record. Oh I forgot the roof rack- put it in with the base price.

Other add ons that you missed in case you didn't realize
Body kit/painting
Interior trim and appearance mods/storage/parcel shelf/larger cup holder, etc
Exhaust Header
re-bored throttle body
larger intercooler
ignition coil/wire upgrade
Plasma Booster
Limited slip diff
lightweight flywheel/clutch
shrick cam to complement refinished JCW head cylinders
short shifter and upgrade ****
Better ECU than the JCW kit upgrade
Better exhaust than the JCW upgrade- easy choice- UUC!!!

Oh Oh. Better stop now. See me when you get up off the floor. Where ARE the smelling salts when you need them?

Driving Lights 400.00
Glove box organizer 29.95

JCW (dealer installed +taxes) 6168.90

Xanthus-
You have an MC so the most anyone has modded an MC has been near $5K so when you do reach $10K then it will be
setting a new standard. Let us know when that time arrives and how you like your car.

If you are wondering I don't think it is that hard to do because the upgrades for the MC and MCS are essentially identical for:

Wheels/tires
Suspension
Brakes
Exhaust Header
Audio/video upgrades
Seats/harnesses/ seat covers
Stripes/protective coverings
Interior/dash/ storage upgrades
Shifter/*****
Light kits
Window tints
aerobody kits/painting
Carbon Fiber upgrades of all sorts
Stock Premium/Sport/Leather/HK/CD changer options
etc.
Less than MCS for ECU, intake, cat-back exhaust upgrades

I'm sure you are over the limit and breaching new highs. Just for the fun of it I will do some quickmath-

>>Here's where the car currently sits:
>>
>>Factory driving lights- I'll spot you $400
>>Custom Webb/Leda fully adjustable coilovers with Hypercoil springs $1900
>>H-Sport camber plates $420
>>H-Sport stress brace $240
>>H-Sport rear adjustable camber links $400
>>H-Sport tubular swaybars $400
>>Alta adjustable droplinks front and rear $240
>>Powerflex bushings $120
>>Wheels and tires $2000 (two sets)
>>Webb stage 1 brake kit $775
>>Alta short shifter $199
>>UUC shift **** $100
>>Schroth MINI harness and pads $250
>>Alta intake $260
>>Webb big bore throttle body $460
>>15% supercharger pulley $200
>>Webb water-air intercooler $1050
>>M7 plasma booster $250
>>Nology plug wires $150
>>Denso IK22 spark plugs $70
>>Schrick cam $600
>>Milltek/London Stainless header $900
>>Alta cat-back exhaust $700
>>Alta oil catch can $120
>>Webb/Powerchip ECU $690

And if you paid around $22,000 for your MCS (not sure of the original options) then the upgrades come to about $12,694 not including your labor and tax.
and the grand total is hovering around $34,700 (gotta add some $2000+ in labor-even though you work like lightening and you dine on peanuts/beer). Wow that is really cheap for a hot rod MCS.

>>A lot of this stuff was at cost, some of it wasn't, and some of it was free. The total is still over 10K, not including the blood, sweat and tears. I wouldn't trade it though!

We will treat it all as if someone was trying to copy your mule (hardly a mule) and so what would be the value invested. Be proud- you have a greatly tuned stallion. Super heavy on the performance end with little on the appearance and comfort (audio/storage) end.

I hate to even think about it but lets see...
Madness intake $250
wheels and tires $1200
Pulley and istallation $200
H-sports and istallation $300
Mintex brake pads $75
Quick Silver exhaust $700

That puts me at around $2725 my prices are estimates. I can handle it better if I can tend to forget the exact amounts!

Still to come...ECU, throttle body, sway bar, camber plates and header....I think I see another $3500 or so going away. OH well....You can't take it with you!

That's about right for the H-Sports - I usually charge actual time and my labor rate is $65. The H-Sports take about an hour, so add that to the $225 price and voila! very close to the $300.

Okay, it's not $10k yet, but I just realized that I've spent $545 and I don't even have a MINI yet. Thanks to advice I've read on MCO, I have waiting in my basement (or in the mail to me now) for future use:

Aux audio kit
Euro parcel shelf kit
Black carpet floor mats
Glove box organizer
UJ sun roof vinyl static cling
Chrome side vents
Sill plates
Custom metal pedals for CVT
Total = $545.

What's the record for upgrades purchased without a car?

I think you might have set a new record for presale upgrades bought for an MC CVT.
That's starting a new trend.

Ouch!!!!!!!!! I'll not start a thread about those NOT spending money on their Minis, but on another thread I made a big deal about spending $150 for the Whalen Shift Machine. I am not in your league, guys! I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!

God speed.

The Whalen for $150 is actually pretty good. You get an excellent quality product that fits the MINI like a T. You have a choice of finishes and best of all you get to do a custom design if you can come up with something that can be engraved onto the ****. Very very cool if you've ever seen one in person. Logos and MCO usernames are common and very trick. I highly recommend MINI owners check it out and I have a MOMO shift lever ($90). Doesn't mean that I can't someday have a Whalen. I can sell my MOMO since it will fit almost any standard shift car. My problem is I need a really good design to make it all worthwhile- then Whalen here I come. I think I will put the Webbmotorsport design on my ****.

By the way did you buy the Whalen? If not find someone that has it and give it a try- you'll like it.

Yeah... I got the Whalen ordered. Can't wait. I put together a neat design of a beagle outline, standing, full body, side view. At the tail I put "R", base of tail "1", backmost rear leg "2", etc.. Actually kinda classy. Then, I decided that I loved the "wings 2" design and liked that it used the winged Mini logo and how more appropriate that was to the car, instead of my dog... so I just ordered that. Can't wait!

Consumables??
Like chips and Beer while you apply your Zaino wax?
Well the wax and tires are fine but the food and drink doesn't count although it would be impressive to spend $10,000+ on chips and beer while you sit admiring your MINI.

$9901 is very good. You are under budget as they say at "trading spaces"!!!
