Haha, true. My boyfriend said "absolutely not, no way" to yellow. He's ok with BRG, even more than the Chili Red I initially wanted.

I've never heard anyone say anything negative to me about my 04 MC. The remarks I hear most often are as follows;

-Is that a foreign car?
-I bet you get great gas mileage!
-I would love to have one of those but you know.. kids.
Quickly followed by...
-Wait. That HAS a back seat?!
-I didn't know you could get that in an automatic.

A lot of times, at my job, a music store, I'll overhear customers ask a co-worker "Who drives that Mini Cooper out there?" Customers always have nothing but nice things to say about it, yet they always refuse when I offer to let them drive it . *shrugs*

A regular was asking me about it and wanted to see the inside so I let him sit in it and check it out and he thanked me repeatedly like I had just let him fly my very own personal jet.

People around my town are stoked on the cars. Aside from getting keyed (that happened over the river in Indiana! ), nothing negative at all.

Little kids love it. If I'm driving around I get points and screams "MINI Cooper!" or "The Italian Job!"

Yay for living in a small city. haha

i can see that. the yellow is soft not hot rod as is the white, to conservative for a sports car. and purple, hmmmm should we even go there. if its purple it better kick every other cars *** out there, or youll have a lot of "splanin ta do"

and nothing says "girlie car" more then a bone stock mini!

Since I have waited a long time to get 'my' car it did irk me when my sister saw the car at a family event. Her first comments were, "Is that your daughters car?" followed by, "I hate those cars they're death traps".

Then the other day in traffic a man was admiring my car, and he asked "What kind of car is that, a Chevy?"

All other comments have been positive...But I love her

it seems to me that most negative comments are born out of complete ignorance and/or jealousy, the "death trap" comment being a prime example. Obviously that person doesn't have a clue as to the safety ratings of MINIs. Just another blanket statement coming from small = dangerous.

Jealousy is one of the 7 deadly sins, and stupidity (in this case, ignorance) should be painful.

The best course of action towards negative comments is deafness. They haven't a clue, but we as owners, do. 'Nuff said.

A real man can drive any car any color he wants. Yep even purple. Why would one only do what others think is right? Manly darker colors? Nothing wrong with darker colors, but to make one manly?? Go ahead do what you feel you need to to be manly.

Motor on.....

When people find out my MINI has 6 airbags and 10 speakers, they look like ! Their jaws literally drop. It's so cool.

When I was a MINI owner I got nothing but nice comments and nods. It was one of the things I liked about the car it didn't seem to offend anyone. Having gotten out of the MINI world for year and I can tell you the one thing I miss the most are the MINI people. Easily the most friendly, encouraging group of people ever. Cheers to all of you.

PS. I'll be back in the fold again, it seems my fiance has taken a liking to the Clubman. Needless to say I'm very happy.

On the way home from picking up my personalized license plate, which says "ILBCNU", a young guy in a Chevy S-10 passed me at about 80 or so. I punched it after he had maybe 200 yards on me, I passed him at over 100, after he picked up his jaw and I let him catch up, he had the biggest grin and gave me a big "thumbs up". I LOVE this little car. If somebody thinks it a "girl's car", they can grin at me as I pass them at 100+. Later

My friend actually did a Am. stand-up routine where he made a joke about his friend(me) must be well equipped if he was willing to drive such a girly car. Wasnt wuite sure if it was a compliment or a burn on my car. on the other hand, i enjoy kids coming up next to me in their civics a revving up their engines like they are hot ****.

But.. but... I sooooo wanted to get a Yellow MINI with black stripes with a custom plate that says [SHRT BUS]... Sadly they didn't have any yellow's on the lot with automatic trans (still haven't gotten around to learn how to drive stick yet; but on the 'to-do' list). I was impatient to wait six weeks for mine so I went ahead with the Sparkling Silver off the lot.

Those people that make fun of our cars being a girly car, unmanly etc... they have never driven a fun car and don't even know what fun is.
My 05 MCS is the most fun any could have in such a small car. I am proud to be a MINI "S" owner. While being a 40 year old male. ummm married with two kids. Let them waste their breath.

Or Life's too short, my car isn't.

My friends been itching to drive my car, and I finally let him take it for a small spin, he was really impressed with how it drove around town. I've never had anyone ride in my car and come away with a negative opinion of it. The best comment recently was when I turned off a surface street to merge onto a highway. My passenger (who's a VW enthusiast) was gripping the door tube, looks at me and goes, "You just did that turn at 50mph"
My response "Yeah, if I got the rear swaybar the car would feel a lot better."

I have had a lot of cars for the seventy's and many motorcycles. My new MCS is one of the best and most fun cars I have ever owned.

I quite literally laughed out loud at this (luckily not many people are in the office yet, or they'd think I was mad)

On the plus side, I did get some kind words from a friend of mine who, after I took him for a quick spin around the block, said (verbatim) "dang, not bad at all!" And, for the record, he drives a 500whp/590wtq GTO.

I've also been called "stupid" and "girly" for ordering my MCS. Seriously, what's with all the hate towards what is a genuinely nice car? I've also gotten a slew of "you should have gotten this car, or that car, or that car (ad nauseum)." It hasn't discouraged me any from my decision to order, but it definitely makes me question others' taste. In the end, I'm getting a car I want, built the way I want it.

It just sucks that the value of a car is apparantly determined by its horsepower number and the time it takes to go through a quarter of a mile... no, MINIs don't have LS1s, nor are they made in Japan, so they must be crap, eh?

Anyone else who has ordered one been hung by their fingernails for liking/wanting/buying a MINI?
I think it's because you live in Texas, where bigger is better.

Everybody loves Hendrix! Since I am a speed junkie, I do get a lot of "Why didn't you get an S?" Otherwise, I've only gotten positive comments. Please remeber that my other car is a 96 ImpalaSS ..... so there is quite a difference. I am used to it as in 1987 I bought a 750 Ninja. Being a tried and true Harley rider (36 years) I got a lot of ribbing from my Harley buddies.

Have those that think negative follow you home on some twisties.
