Well my wife does work for the company that owns USA Today. I'll ask if she or her boss have a contact. Not likely but who knows

We had great day celebrating both the Clubman and MMAC. We started with a drive, made a visit to the dealer, and finished with a chili cookoff. As of right now we are at $250 and counting, with all money going towards Susan Komen for the Cure. If you're interesting in our cause, check out this thread.

Here's to another successful handoff!!

Four clubs met to take part in this banner transfer:
  • 'Sota MINIs - sranderle and njbed
  • Milwaukee MINIs - mauberley and MiniShagz
  • Madison MINIs - francisk
  • Chicago MINIs - Paul, AllBlack05S, THEMightyMini and me
We ate at Pizzaria Uno in the Dells, chatted for a bit and finally handed the banner over. Took a few pictures and even delivered a set of wheels/rims (yes.. 17's do fit in the back of a cabrio )

L to R: sranderle, MINIShagz, MiniMac2005.. and the MMAC banner

I'll let our tripod photog post one of the entire group.

The Chicago/Milwaukee event is next Sunday, then
AllBlack05S will be transporting the banner to AMVIV.

Thanks Steve for the post ^^

Since AllBlack05S will be delivering the banner to AMVIV, who's next???

anyone? anyone??

as posted earlier, it would be great to get the banner to the Dragon, so if you're planning on receiving it and taking it west, please keep that in mind

As promised, here's the group shot:

Here are some other pictures from the day. I'm glad I got a chance to rendezvous with the banner--as it happens I'm unable to make it to the CMMC Spring Drive where it was going to be signed.

I can speak for AllBlack05S since I'm the one coordinating the donation drive for us.. AllBlack was kind enough to step up to deliver the banner from CHGO to AMVIV...

He needs to know who/where/when to hand-off the banner to while in LV. as far as donations, you simply need to select a local cancer charity as the benificiary of your donations. I used the American Cancer Society since I was able to create a online donation page and they are a recognized charity. pm me if you have any questions

Thanks MiniMac. I don't think it will be an issue finding the REME tent. I'll just ask for Norm.

I second Sandie's offer for Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts to carry the banner from AMVIV to Oregon. We would be honored. REME will have a booth and will be proud to fly the banner during AMVIV. Our booth is number 2 next to Sin City directly across from the elevator exit on the roof top. Can't miss it. If you can't find me there I will be crusing the roof top on my Cruzin' Cooler distributing cold beer like last year.

We will contact a local Cancer Charity and set up and make the donations in the name of Minis Motoring Against Cancer.

Thanks,

Norm Nelson

Hi! I just wanted to say thanks for everyone who is involved with this. I can speak first-hand that cancer does suck. I am thrilled to be part of something that might help prevent someone from getting it, or make it easier to deal with. Here are my pictures from the recent handoff. You all are doing a great thing and I'm honored to be a part of it.

Thanks!!!!!

Emerald MINI Car Club will be proudly taking the banner from REME in April after AMVIV. We will attempt to pass it along to PDXMINI or PSMINI after we haver a fund raiser in April.

Thank you for letting us be a part of this!

I posted this earlier. PSMINI would be proud to take it from AMVIV and then send it through PDXMINI and EMERALD MINI and then to CA groups. Is anyone from CA going to The Dragon that could take it back? I just thought there might be more of an opportunity down there than up here to get it back East.

Since Tar Heel MINI Motoring Club started this, I will reimburse the person who ships it back to us. Please PM me with information on who is shipping it and I'll write you a check to cover the cost of shipping.

So the MMAC banner has been handed off to AllBlack05S (Eric & Noreen) and is awaiting a nice looong trip to AMVIV in a few weeks.

First, I just want to say a big, HUGE, thank you to everyone who contributed! you've definitely shown what a great MINI community we have in the IL/WI area. I hope everyone who contributed had the opportunity to sign the banner.

Second, my goal was to raise $1000. An ambitious goal for sure, especially in such a short amount of time (1 week). As of this post we've raised $990.00 for the ACS! Imagine what we could do with a little more time!

Third, and most important, it was really great to see Tom (MiniShagz) and his brother at the Drive today. We're pulling for you big guy!!

Paying it forward in a big way- Francis (MiniMac2005)

I donated online after the meet not sure if the $965 included that. I posted this up on the forum I own with a link to the ACS page maybe some of the kids on my site will donate some of their parents money. I'd like to see the $1000 mark. If we don't hit it by this time tomorrow I'll push it over myself.

Great turnout for the drive.
