MINIs Motoring Against Cancer
I made it!!
'SotaMINIs now has the banner.
Thanks go out to KC MINIs for the lunch. It was a nice break from driving. It's always fun to meet some new motoring enthusiasts!

Thanks also go out to Liz, Samer, and Ric at Baron MINI. They were very hospitable while I gave my legs some more time out of the driver's seat. However, I did have to take a 6-speed R56 JCW out for a spin.
It sounds like 'SotaMINIs may have to have one of our events be a road trip to attend a Baron MINI event. I'm now on the mailing list.
After 850 miles of driving, I got my first tank of over 30 mgp, ever!! Sweet.
I-35 in Missouri is awesome.
Iowa and Minnesota, not so much.
Motoringchix has the pictures from the handoff. I will post more info about our event soon.
So, who's next?

I'm glad to hear sranderle and the banner made it safely back to MN! It was great to have a visitor at the KC Mini Meet and sranderle is just a swell guy--really!
We enjoyed your visit and would love to have the 'Sota MINIs join us for one of our club events!
Here are a couple of photos:

FYI - Seems like sranderle can't get enough of a good thing. This is his second close encounter with the MMAC banner. His first with with the Tennesseans at Nashville Super Speedway back in October.
Great job, all.
Great job, all.
I have some ideas for the next handoff.
I was looking at the AMVIV attendees list, and I see three possibilities. I see attendees from CO, IL, and NE. Is anyone from Chicago, Denver, or Omaha interested in hosting the banner before AMVIV? If so, we could arrange a swap. The banner could then travel to AMVIV with the club members attending. This would be much preferred to mailing it.
If nobody wants to host another event before AMVIV, I was thinking I could hook up with some of the Chicago contingent at they trek west.
Our event will be on Saturday, March 1st. I am open to shuttling the banner on Sunday, March 2nd.
Okay folks, who's on deck?

Let me know if you have any ideas on improving it

Great job guys. Looks like there is less and less "white space"... and more $$$$ for cancer research. I'm glad someone marked not to within the map, however be sure to mark where it has been.
Whoever volunteers next. Just keep us in the loop on this thread.
right here! Still working on the final details... but we'll have the banner for the CMMC Spring Drive on Mar 9. afterwards, it will travel to AMVIV (thanx AllBlack05S).
Being a member of 'Sota MINIs living in CHGOland it only made sense to help this along. It's an honor for me to carry the banner for a friend and CMMC/Milwaukee MINIs member fighting a year-long battle with cancer. His courage should be an inspiration to all.
I will be looking for support from any Chicagoland/Milwaukee MINIs owners for donations to the local cancer charity.. Anyone making a donation can sign the banner at the Drive. More details to follow.

Thanks MiniMac2005, and AllBlack05S. Can't wait to see pictures at AMVIV. Hopefully we will get some coverage in MC2 for this, so that others can also get involved.
Its an honor to be part of something this special. I am just crazy enough to send a press release somewhere (just have to get an idea where-USA Today?) to draw attention to this.
Any ideas let me know.

Second that!!! It is just great to see so many good people working together to fight a disease that effects so many...
** update **
here's our thread for the banner: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=129934
I was able to set-up a nice Tribute page on the ACS website for online donations.
Will be looking for roadtrip buddies to make the trek up to the Dells on MAR 2nd to meet sranderle for the banner handoff. Hope to see any 'Sota friends or any WI MINIs looking for something to do on a Sunday

If someone can help us figure out how to get the banner from the Pacific NW back down to the Dragon, our club (PSMINI) would love to bring it back from AMVIV and host a charity event here in the NW Corner of the nation. We could hand off to someone in the Portland Club, if they are interested and then maybe they could hand off to someone in CA. We just need someone from this side heading to the Dragon to make it work!

MC2 printed an article that I wrote when we started the banner, but they have not had an opportunity to do one since. I don't know if USA Today would do this, but if they did it would be AWESOME !!! Maybe a call to MINI USA would be good.
