MINIs Motoring Against Cancer
I understand that the banner is going to be in Nashville for an event October 13. Mid-SOuth MINIacs (Memphis) will try to get the banner over here for a tie in the the AMerican Cancer SOciety "Making Strides for Cancer" walk scheduled for Saturday October 20 and will then pass the banner on to either the club in St. Louis or Little Rock
Scenic City MINIS will have the banner in time for our Sept. meeting! I hope everyone will be able to come out and sign the banner before it travels on!
I'm very pleased that we will be able to participate in this important cause!!

Where's it going after Memphis?
The first weekend in November we are having a big weekend event at Mount Magazine in Arkansas where we've invited other clubs. If it's not already planned to go anywhere from Memphis can we have it for our weekend event?

If the arkansas guys get it i can go pick it up from them in Springfield.
Arkansas wants it. If we can get it from the MIdSouth MINIacs that would be great, the sooner the better. That way maybe we can get others who can't come to our event to sign it as well. I'll meet Alan or someone somewhere. I'm wanting to take my daughter to the guitar museum in Memphis anyway (I home school) so I can do it during the week, unless I get a job which I'm trying to do. Anyone know of a MINI job? I'd rather work from home.
I've emailed Alan to find out if we'll get it next.

Just checked in on the status of "The Banner". This is GREAT! I knew the MINI community would do it big. Thanks for all the effort. Hopefully, it will finish at the Dragon next year.
Go MINI's.
BTW, please write a short article to MC2. They published a small article that I wrote at the beginning, but I think it would be great to have follow-up articles.

When and where are the events in Knoxville and Nashville? I'll be starting by trip home from the Dragon on 10/13. I would definitely like to take part in an event if it works out. My wife is a 14 year breast cancer survivor!!
On another note, we, 'Sota MINIs, would like to get a hold of the banner in Minneapolis. Any idea when it will start heading north?

MINI owners in North Carolina wanted to honor a MINI friend and fellow MINI club member who fell victim to cancer. They created a banner to rally around, held a drive and collected funds to donate to the cause of fighting cancer. The idea grew to include passing the banner, like passing a torch, to other MINI clubs across the country. Since the banner took it’s first trip to Mt. Mitchell in North Carolina, it has traveled to South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, raising funds to fight cancer and being embellished with the signatures of those whose hands it passed through.
It’s time for Tennesseans to volunteer to move the banner on further. To raise funds to battle cancer a gathering in the center of Tennessee is in the works, in Nashville, for a car show in conjunction with The Minnie Challenge. The Minnie Challenge is an event held by The Phil Wicks Driving Academy at Nashville SuperSpeedway and includes a day of fun filled and educational track activities. The proceeds of this day go to support the Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation. You can find out more about The Minnie Challenge by visiting www.minidriving.com and www.minniepearl.org.
The car show will be held in the infield area during the track activities. Registration will begin at 10AM and the MINIs and Minis will line up for judging at 1PM. This will be a fun and laid back car show with awards for Best Graphics, Best Shine, Most Detailed, and Best Overall MINI and Mini. The entrance fee is $20.00 for pre-registered participants and $25.00 for day of the show. All money raised by the event will go directly to the Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation. Bring your MINI or Mini out for a fall Saturday of Mini fellowship, sign the MINIs Motoring Against Cancer banner, and participate.
If you would like to aid in the car show please contact me. I will be instructing for the Academy that day also so some help would be greatly appreciated. This will not be a heavy workload as there are only four awards planned and the show will be judged.
We can get it to you. Maybe we can get up to you or meet you somewhere the next weekend which is the second weekend in November? I'll keep in contact with you. We'll be in Fayetville that Saturday the 3rd?, but I want to have it for the gathering that evening.
Anyone is invited to our weekend event in Arkansas. We have a thread on it in the Arkansas MINI Owners Klub forum. I'll be directing this on there later.
here is the info on where it is going to be in nashville:

How long do you expect the festivities to run? How many people are registered so far?
MidSouth MINIacs and "The Banner"
The MidSouth MINIacs will have the banner in Memphis on Saturday October 20. One of our members will be bringing it to Memphis from the Nashville event. Members of the MINIacs will be proudly carrying the banner in "The American Cancer Society" "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk on Saturday October 20 which starts at 7:30am at AutoZOne Park in downtown Memphis.
(check out Making Strides Against Breast Cancer: for more info about the walk)
Whether you are a MidSouth MINIac or not, you are welcome to join us at this event. You may e-mail me at midsouthminiacs@aol.com for info on where to meet up with the MINIacs on the morning of the walk.
After Memphis, the banner will move on to Little Rock Arkansas and will be in the hands of members of AMOK, Arkansas MINI Owners Klub for an event they are planning for the first weekend in November. You can visit their website at www.motoringamok.com for more info on their event and info on how to contact them to get the banner on to another club.
Let's keep this banner moving!
