MINIs Motoring Against Cancer
Still waiting to hear from our Steering Committee re: the banner and drive. There was talk about 8/5 and also our bday party in September... that usually draws the biggest crowd of peeps.
Bamatt... if we don't have the banner by the time you make it to Atlanta for service, I'm always looking for an excuse to drive to B'ham for Whataburger, so maybe we can work something out.

Man, I really love the enthusiasm. This is exactly what I was hoping would happen. I knew this would work just at a grassroots level. Currently I think the banner is with the M2C2 club.
Would whoever has the banner please post the location and when it will be available to go to the next location. With as many MINI people driving around the country this summer, it is bound to travel, and it gives you a chance to meet other people of only for a minute, when you pick up the banner.
We should have plenty of time and I would hope that it would wind back up next year at the Dragon, and if has not gotten around the country by then, we will just keep it going. The purpose is the fundraising effort.
Thanks to everyone who has expressed an interest.

MBE this is bad
but have any thoughts of UPS'ing the banner from group to group been thought out. I think it would be just as effective if the banner were mailed throughout the US with different clubs doing signing/donating events. It might help get the banner to more places while still maintaining the intent of the original campaign
& Mrs. Scurvy... please for all that is... come to bama & let me carry you to Milo's hamburgers. Every Alabamian knows that Whataburger
doesn't even hold a candle to a Milo's
plus if you get off at the I-20 Oxford exit I can meet you there & carry you on a nice twisty ride to Milo's on Hwy 280

This is an awesome idea. Try and get it to KC so I can sign it. I've had some experiences with cancer too... My dad had thyroid cancer and my mom passed away about 2 years ago on my birthday from ovarian cancer and a few other family members had cancer...
Actually our September event would be the worst time to have it. Our August 5th drive would be best.

Glad to see the banner is on it's way to you for the 8/5 rally. I will try to see if I can make it down there to meet some of the Atlanta MINI's. Any idea ou where it goes next? Be sure to mark your location on the map of the banner.
I plan on coming down to meet you guys. Thanks for hosting the Banner for this. Any idea where it is going from there? I talked with someone last night who was going to the MINIS in the Mountains, but he was leaving on the 4th.
I picked up the banner today on our AtlantaMINIs cancer run... such a fun run, we had an awesome turnout! It was very nice to meet you today Red Ryder. I've made plans to pass the banner on to bamatt and Bama MINIs the end of this month. Thanks again Red Ryder for putting this all in motion.
The AtlantaMINIS had their Summer Drive and MINIs Motoring Against Cancer fund raiser yesterday. We had a huge turnout with 60 MINIs participating in the event. We raised $2000.00 for the American Cancer Society! Here's a photo of some of us...

The Birmingham MINI Association will have the banner next for their event on August 26.

The bamaminis (located in Birmingham, AL) will be doing our ride with the banner on August 26th. I want to put feelers out there to see if anyone in the TN area or the panhandle of FL would like to meet me 1/2 way to hand off the banner (or MS, do we have any MS MINIS?). I can only travel on the weekend. I will do a Saturday meet but Sundays are best for me. Anybody interested drop me a PM & we can get the ball rolling

Is there any club between Alabama & Arizona that is interested planning an event & getting the banner? I will UPS it to you. There are a lot of clubs between AL & AZ so if any group is interested please PM me so I can make arrangements to get it to you. If if don't hear from anyone between me & AZ, the Phoenix MINIS have expressed interest & I will be sending it on to them
Or if any of you Texas folks want to organize someone to meet me in Austin, TX in late October, I can get the banner there via airplane.... surely there's someone between Alabama and Texas that'd be willing to go on a nice road trip across bumpy I-20 or I-10... or backroads... and then someone willing to drive between Texas and Arizona...
I'd be willing to drive to Albq to pick up the banner and bring it back to Phoenix...if we can get it that far West..I have to be in Albq Oct 23-24 anyway....... I could then pass it on to either the SoCal group or the Las Vegas group in early November
Let me know after your run on Sunday - and have lots of fun motoring for a good cause!

Let's see if we can get it from AL to Memphis via the four Tennessee groups, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Nashville to Memphis. Hang out and let me see what we can work out. I'd rather see it go by MINI.
Check out the article in the latest issue of MC2. Would love to see other clubs submit follow up articles. Barry indicated that he would publish those.
Banner update:

The banner is still in Alabama at this moment but plans have already been made to relay to Chattanooga Tennessee in a few weeks with the help of ScenicCityMINIs. From there it will travel with a Smoky Mountain MINIs member to Knoxville.
I was already involved with The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation for a 2nd annual event called The Minnie Challenge. You can read more about The Minnie Challenge at www.minniepearl.org. A Show and Shine has been added to The Minnie Challenge to raise additional funds and the MINIs Motoring Against Cancer banner will be at the event. It is not known at this time where the banner will go to next, Memphis to complete the trip across the state of Tennessee, or Kentucky? We'll let you know.
