I have tint on my rear windows but i don't know what kind of %, it's the only one kind proposed in Belgium by BMW. I just know it's very light.

I love very muche the combo ss/b and redwood red, it's just amazing and colorfull! Here are some pics of my interior

Nice

Ah, I see you opted for Carbon Black door panels instead of the Redwood Red interior that is included with the upholstery option. Looks very nice! I didn't know you could change the door panel color. Had I known, I just might have gone with black panels too. But I guess it's too late for me to worry about things like that...

I know I'll be one of the few SS/W owners on this thread, but I may be the only SS/W with Redwood Lounge...

VERY NICE MIINIDUO!!! VERY NICE INDEED!

Robovega, I have chosen to go with all black interior, although I do like the redwood - I love mine. I can't wait to see your SS/W - haven't seen that combo yet. post photos!

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

Mismatched Roof/Stripes...

The car looks fantastic. And the driving lights... oh the driving lights.

So my SS/W is crossing the Atlantic towards Panama, and I'm thinking about some stripes. I didn't add any stripes on the order I put with my MA, but he said we can talk about getting them installed at the dealer/VDC when the time nears.

So messing around in the MINIUSA configurator, I stumbled onto something – mismatched roof and stripe colors. If you get dealer accessory stripes, they don't have to match the roof color on the MINI.

I've only seen this on the JCW F1 mockup that they are releasing for the 50th anniversary, and in the picture it looks very nice. But I am pretty hesitant on this idea. I already went against the grain with a white roof on an SS, so I am not sure if mismatching the bonnet stripes is too much of a risk that I'll eventually regret.

Any thoughts from the SS owner's club?

Thanks for the comment on the rims and lights, glad you like it.

On the mismatched roof and bonnet stripes, to give you an idea of how it will look the diecast company AutoArt has one that like that.

Doesn't look too bad and would be different.

It's quite alright to "go against the grain". That is part of the MINI uniqueness.

White Sports or Black Bonnets?

Wow, nice find! Kind of uncanny how that combination showed up, let alone in a diecast car.

I'm still on the fence about the mismatched roof and stripes. I think with a white roof, the white lining on the OEM black bonnet stripes is what keeps the look together. Its subtle, but I think it makes a big difference. Also, the black hood scoop on the diecast sticks out like a sore thumb. My MC won't have a scoop, so that'll help "clean" it up a bit...

I'm either going to play it safe and get white sport stripes, or take my chances with black bonnet stripes.

Thanks for the input so far! Of course aesthetics are subjective and its ultimately my decision to get right or mess up.
Anymore suggestions?

Go with what feels good for you and Gizmo! We've had Daphne since January 08 and she still doesn't have her new stripes on.

Still confused...

T8rChick – Thanks for the words of encouragement! Stripes definitely feel good for Gizmo, its just a matter of what style.

The more I think about it, I picture my SS/W with black bonnets, but that's probably because SS/B is such a popular combination. I still haven't seen a MINI with mismatched roof and stripe colors. Nor have I seen white sport stripes on an SS before. Anyone have 'em?

Decisions, decisions.

Hello all-

Haven't popped in in a while, so thought I'd say hey.

Mismatched roof color and stripes? Hmmm. Looks ok on the diecast. I'd say if it floats your boat, go for it!

Peace, and happy motoring!
Will

↑ Wow, another SS w/ Redwood.

There's just something about that combination that you immediately fall in love with. My sights were dead set on Mellow Yellow... Until I saw SS w/ Redwood. It's so classy. I ordered mine with a white roof though. I thought it added some charm to it...

My SS w/ Redwood arrived the VDC today. I'm hoping to pick up sometime next week.

Yes, the salesman I bought it from said a lot of people said they couldn't see that color combination. But that is what I liked about it.

Very nice!

Did you order the black wheels from MINI or did you go aftermarket? Just wondering.

Are you gonna tint your windows? It's amazing how much better it makes the SS/B color combo look.

Motoring in Southern California, how dark should your window tint be? I really don't wanna hassle with cops, but I want to protect my leather interior from the blistering sun. Just thought I'd get some insight from a fellow SS motorer in SoCal...

I have 20% on mine, all windows except windshield. Legally, you can't have ANY tint on the windshield, driver's and passenger's windows (except what is manufactured into it). But the other windows can be tinted as dark as you want. But there are a lot of places that'll do it anyway (who'd turn down money for a job like that?); you just try to behave around cops and have the windows either all the way up or all the way down so its not completely obvious to them.

Those are the black wheels from Mini. I'll be getting tints done in the near future.
