Any others out there remember exactly?
Thanks!
Was there a common thread then between them--- say horsepower, displacement or nothing except 4 wheels?----I don't remember exactly what
, but know you could tell each make by the sound it made. That is somewhat apparent now, but not nearly so much.
Just set my dvr this morning for this weekend as I will be off to a MINI event. It sure is nice to have Inside Gran Prix, practice, qualifying, AND the race waiting for me on Sunday night when I get home to watch when I have time. The only thing is that I need to stay away from here until I've viewed it. Personally having the dvr has made this season.

If I remember, dicplacement was used as an equalizer. However, the inclusion of turbos made for some interesting rule-making against the backdrop of normally aspirated engines...in a way only F-1 could manage. I'm old...I could be wrong.

The V-10 in comparison was audio torture.
After the V-12, I like the sound of a Cosworth DFV V-8 best, so maybe the new formula will be able to recapture some of those great exhaust pipe aurias.Yep, this week-end is significant. It's the last opportunity for Renault (the V-10's spiritual Godfather) to win the Constructor's title, thus ending it's era on a high note.

My intro to the modern V-10 came in Montreal at a Group C sports car race in 1990...amongst the Sauber Mercedes, Jaguars, Nissans, and Porsche 962s was one lone Peugeot 905 using that race as a test and debut...you knew when that car was on track from anywhere around the circuit...compared to all the turbos in that race, it truly screamed!

1988: 1.5L V6 turbos in the frontrunners, plus some 3.0L and 3.5L Ford/Cosworth V8s
1989: No more turbos. All engines were 3.5L (Ferrari and Lambo had V12s, Honda and Renault had V10, everyone else ran a V8)
1995: Engines go down 3.0L (Ferrari still had a V12, Ford/Cosworth had V8s, everyone else had a V10)
1998: Everyone has a 3.0L V10
2006: Everyone goes to a V8

there is nothing prototype in the Daytona Prototypes. IMHO they should be called "Daytona spec racers" or isnt that the name for Nextell cup cars?
I watched a few DP races this year, and there is much too much bumping/griding/overly-aggressive driving ala NASCAR. The cars are also very ugly, not very high-tech and very spec. ALMS on the other hand is really exciting! I can't wait to see the new Porsche RS Spyder this weekend!

p.s. M. Martin is sponsored by Pfizer's "V"-Power, for men "of a certain age" in NASCAR, Viagra in the parlance of the times.

F1 Season Wrap-up
Well wasn’t this an interesting season…
As I’ve said before, the pendulum will only swing one way so far… Ferrari is not dead!!! They pick the drivers and the car drives them to victory. Ferrari is not dead. Another prediction from me, a very easy one BTW.
Peter Windsor’s comment about Jenson Button, I think was… let’s say I had a lot more respect for the guy until his comment about Jenson.
I have been talking about this kid for what now… 3 years I’ve been saying he’s getting no respect!!! AND now he’s still getting none. WHO THE EFF IS SATO!!! And why does he rank in press above Button?
Next year, HE, Jenson Button will be the highest paid driver in F1. Someone other than ME must see he has the mark of a champion. Only the car and the circumstance will be the factor, but that’s racing. He is a champion driver!!!
Does anyone other than me see this???
