Did anyone catch the clips of the MINIS crashing in the race before the GP2 race this morning. They really tore up the guard rail. Okay, formation lap starting, back to the race...
The one MINI did a header into the guardrail and the other MINI must have rolled about four or five times. Yes, have to get up with the chickens out west to catch the GP2 race. Keeping my eye on Scott Speed.
OK, rhetorical question, does anyone know what it takes to become a F1 driver these days?
I know what it took in the late 60’s early 70’s when I was racing. I also know what it takes today. Anyone want to bite on this one? Great driving is not part of the answer BTW.
I think the ability to draw an increased viewership in markets that have low viewership (Japan? & US for example) will increasingly play into who's driving who is not. I don't think they'll pull Sato unless they have a replacement from Japan. This may also explain the big drive to get a driver from the US behind the wheel and is why we'll see Speed in that role next year.

DING DING DING, we have a winner for the most part - money is the other part. You buy sponsors. Driving has little to do with it these days.
Many if not most of us could drive F1 as well as the rest of them, that is if you're up to the true speed and be mid pack or top of it.
F1 has actually gone down hill over the last few big money years.
I guess there is no such thing as bad publicity. Great shots of Peter Windsor stuffing his MCS into the armco at Spa. Just glad nothing more than his ego and a little sheetmetal were damaged.
