problems mounting v710s

I have a set of v710's that the garage is having trouble mounting. They are 215/40r16 and the rims are 16x7 Motegi mr7. According to Kumho, they should fit. The tires are on the rim, but they can't get them to pop into the seat, so they won't take any air.
Is this common with low profile r-comps? Any suggestions?

Thanks

I have no idea why they would have any problems mounting those tires. They should fit just fine.

I get the feeling they're not too experienced with competition tires.

Use the ATV trick and throw a ratchet strap around the center of the tire and make sure the valve is out of the stem. Lots of airpressure and no resistance from stem and they should seat. Hopefully

Thanks Tim, I will tell them to try that. If they still have no luck after Monday, I'll take the wheels somewhere else.

Hopefully it will work. Have used the same trick with short track cars and quads. Maybe a tire store used to dealing with race tires? Good luck, let us know what works out.

well the first garage has given up, the ratchet strap didn't even work for them. I'm going to a tuner place with more experience with the low profile stuff.

Wow, may be issues beyond the norm here. Keep us posted. See if there is a local SCCA chapter that has a favorite tire store and skip to the experts that way.

here it's the CASC. The rules and classing are pretty much identical with SCCA, they just scrambled the acronym

Well the 2nd garage mounted 3 tires with no problem, but they failed with the other one. There is a defect in the tire that causes the bead to bulge away from the rim at one point. It's not very noticeable, but it's enough so it won't hold any air. I'm going to exchanging the tire.

WOW, that could have been an ongoing PIA! Glad things are working out finally!

yeah 710s are tough to mount. and i had the same problem but did managed to get them all to seat even in stock rims so dont blame it on the defect (hard side wall tends to do that). i use a tire machine like fallowing to mount mine . there is an arm that extends out to help to push the tire in and help the air seal . we had to use lighter fulid and fire to pop one of the tires(spray flamable substance in the tire, set it on fire and let the air expand and pop in place) but yeah, not easy to mount

The tire dealer (TalonTire) tested it out and found that it was indeed more difficult than usual for a v710. They figured they could manage to do it with a bit more time, but decided to send me a replacement anyway.
