Countryman Boot Stuck

Does anyone have any advice for getting the boot open on a Countryman? Mine is stuck shut and when lift the latch or press the trunk button on the fob, there's a rather loud series of clicks. Sounds more like an electric drill skipping on a screw than anything else. There isn't anything that's stuck in the locking mechanism that I can see. Is there a manual release specific to the Countryman? In case it matters, it's a 2012 All4.

Sounds like warranty work at the dealer to me. Why mess with it?

Hi Aross88,
I have the same issue with the trunk not opening (Countryman S '12). I wonder if you fixed it and how... there is almost no info online about this.
Thank you!

This is the lock, 51249802312 I dont see anything else other then this and the handle itself. Sounds like it jams, needs adjusted on the two eyelets with the bolts. Either in or out.

As you can see it look like its preped for the emergency cable but there is none in the countryman/ paceman I can see.

But i did see its shared with the i8 BMW( yes the MINI and the BMW i8 have much in common) so maybe after the fix someone could mod for the cable and handle #4 and #5

Some people had this work"

I ended up taking it to the dealer and they corrected it in 10 seconds!! They pulled the latch up on the outside of the door and then jerked up the door with their left hand holding onto the lower left corner of the hatch door. He said you had to be careful not to put to much force on the latch itself and put most of the force on the corner of the door...but that solved it!! Thank you so much for your suggestions!!

alternate two-human version: Get one person inside the back to push the hatch outward while someone on the outside lifts the handle.

Okay so I tried this and tried giving a kick from the inside with the latch held up. I'm not making any noise. Nothing suck in latch but bumped cargo and didn't close all the way so the sensor think the liftgate is ajar. Also tried to bump it all the way closed. stuck in between. Have a quarter inch plus or minus of play in the latch. anything I could do you activate the sensor so I can actuate the latch?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Hi, my 2013 Countryman won't open from the switch inside or from the fob. Its not making noise. The dash indicator keeps saying its open and ding dongs. Is there a manual release anywhere?
