Grabbed stuff out of the back of the car, closed tailgate heard a double bounce thought it was weird. got in to drive and said wasn't shut. Went to close it again double bounced realized it wasnt locking. and that about it. Pulled all panels off of both the lock mech and handle mech to see if any loose wires. NO such luck. then tested switch on door handle. seems ok. Not sure what else to do.

 

Sounds like what happened to me also. Double bounce, almost have to force it close to lock in place. It is the actuator on the body of the vehicle, it doesn't disengage/engage when it comes into contact with the pin on the hatch. Same thing happened to my 2015 CM S, had to get it replaced via the dealer, because it was still under warranty.
