JCW Spark Plugs

I know this has been brought up before, but I got bored after searching for it and not finding anything.

Where can I find a set of spark plugs for my JCW and what are my options, performance wise? The dealer wants $120, which is fine, but I know there have to be more options out there other than OEM. Does the JCW use the same plugs as an MCS? I can't find any plugs that are specifically for a JCW.

Thanks in advance!!

Hey Drew.

The Bentley book states "see your MINI dealer" but they recommend NGK and Beru as sources for the plugs. Certainly a commodity like plugs should be easy to locate outside the MINI dealer - nothing that google can't handle.

NGK Iridium in my book. Been running them in my MCS for a few years now and they are awesome.

Thanks guys. Would these work then? They seem too cheap compared to what the dealer wanted but the part number matches the one on NGK's site.

The part number listed on the Amazon site, is correct for the JCW, the price in the advert, will be for each individual spark plug, and not for a pack of 4 but still a mighty good saving.

Those are a little expensive. You can get them here for $35

You can even get them one step colder.

Thanks czar! Even at $50 for the set it's still less than half of what the dealer wanted. I'm going to order them.

daflake- those are for an r53 but thanks anyways!

You should call Way Motor Works he usually has them in stock, fast shipping and good price. www.waymotorworks.com I think they are about $60 from him.

Jack,

Modified or Tuned motors generally run hotter and could benefit from a colder plug as to not ignite the fuel before it is supposed to. Basically has to do with the heat dissopation properties of the plug, the hotter the plug the more chance the heat itself will ignite the fuel instead of the spark.

Haha the part that's even worse is that they wanted $220 between parts and labor. $100 to change a set of plugs?? You've gotta be kidding me!
