What's actually funny to me is that they say they only have factory capacity to do it now cause they got rid of the other aero kit. But we all know they didn't really sell too many of the other aero kits in the first place so capacity couldn't have been too high.
And they said its a move to further distinguish the JCW subbrand from the rest, yet this is coming after they released the JCW looks package for the MCS where they get the JCW aero kit, wheels, and steering wheel.
So seems to me they need to work on their definition of distinguish, or put more effort into it if they really want to set them apart.

Saw the story this morning as well. Glad MINI is correcting this obvious mistake, and hopefully that will carry forward into the next generation MINI as well.
Now, we just need the JCW suspension included as standard too!

There was some mention that the front splitter featured on the JCW coupe is a bit longer for a slightly more aggressive appearance. I think there may be a retrofit in my future. http://www.motoringfile.com/2011/06/...-2/#more-18149

Great. My JCW is on the ship right now and I have been regretting not getting the aero kit. If I would have know there was a discount I probably would have gotten it. Now for 2012 it will be included. It probably will be no charge too. I keep saying to myself that it will look like a sleeper since it will not have the kit.
I'm not sure, but usually a standard feature cost much less than a option. Lets hope that the price isn't affected severely. If the current price for the aero kit is directly translated into the base price of the 2012 then this would be just be a sick joke.
The statement from the article: "As part of an effort to further differentiate the sub-brand’s cars from standard MINIs..." has me wondering what could be next. Once we factor in the suspension and some of the nicer interior bits we should see a much more costly JCW lineup....
BTW, I'm still hoping the N20 engine with its 240hp/260lb-ft out makes its way in the Next Gen JCW lineup...That's my idea of differentiation from the sub-brand's.

I dislike the look of the aero kit, glad I got my 2011. One of the big selling points for MINI is "make it your own". Forcing the aero kit and/or the JCW suspension on me would be taking options away from me. Are they going to charge extra now if you want it without the aero kit?

I'm starting to like the JCW Aerokit so this is good news. I do wonder if the JCW base price will creep up as a result.
I really wish the JCW Suspension was also standard or a less expensive factory option at least. As it stands now, in Canada, the Sports Suspension on a JCW is only CAD$250 extra... but the JCW suspension is dealer installed and very expensive.

Umm....good question but if I had to throw in my two cents. I doubt it, as the article stated the standardization of the JCW aero kit for all JCW branded cars is "part of an effort to further differentiate the sub-brand’s cars...." this lends me to believe that in the future the only cars that will be equipped with this package will be a factory JCW and if you want to obtain the aero kit it may even cost you more...

I live in the NYC suburbs. The roads here are crap. I drive in Manhattan 2-3 days a week. I have never had an issue with my JCW aero kit. And the Challenge wheels have help up rather well too.
