So the kit is now standard on JCWs but is also available as a package on Cooper S's. So much for exclusivity... lol

My understanding is that the JCW aero kit was already available for the S so it was never really esclusive. There are debates about the JCW stuff being available for the S. I figure for some people it's the only way to get close to a factory JCW with an automatic. Although I hate automatics, some people are physically unable to drive a manual.

BUT if you want that JCW Aero on your S, it is gonna cost you a lot.

MotoringFile also reported today that due to issues with the Oxford plant and the standard JCW Aero, factory JCW builds will not start until Nov2011.

Also the JCW Clubman will not have the Aero as standard for the Nov2011 builds.

My MA is trying to find out when the next JCW Hatch slot is available... I suspect there is going to be some confusion for a while. I'm just glad my lease doesn't expire until the 1st week of January. A November build might mean I could get the car just in time before sending the old one back.

^^^Oddly, I was told that the hardtop and cabrio are delayed but the Clubbie is not. Weird.

edit - weird about the Clubbie not getting the kit standard in Nov.

So, I was talking with my MA and the CLubman is the only one of the three that does NOT get the Aero Kit standard which sucks because we still get the price increase onthat model AND it's the one of the three that it looks the best on. To make it worse I can't even spec it for the build through military sales because they won't let you add ANY accessories. Ugh... Maybe I WILL go with the R57. My oldest will be driving in a little over a year and my wife will most surely buy something larger than a Wrangler this time around. lol

Definitely a frustrating situation for future clubbie purchasers. You get the price increase in the US, but no Aero Kit for this year. I guess if you are willing to wait, they may fix the Aero clubbie production issue early 2012?

Good news in Canada is that we get no MSRP increase plus the Aero is no charge on the JCW. It's a small victory I supposed since the Canadian dollar has been at par with US for some time now and we still pay more than our American friends. My deposit is in and I've been told as soon as MINI publishes Nov2011 allocations, I will get a Nov2011 build slot for my 2012 JCW.

It's not a production issue with the Clubman. The production issue is why the hardtop and cabrio are not being produced until November. It's a deliberate decision by BMW/Mini.

Oddly, if I go with the Clubbie it'll be the same exterior as yours...just no aero kit. lol

You are right. I re-read the article on MotoringFile and it is an odd decision not to include the Aero Kit as standard on the clubbie. The Aero front is the same right, but I assume the sides/rear are slightly different. Think it was a price decision?

I want an aero kit .... but can't afford $2000 plus a paint job... since they come only primed.

I originally thought it was a money issue but the cabrio costs more and it's getting the Aero kit. The front is the same though. I'm pretty sure the sides are different since the wheelbase is longer on the R55.

I'll probably go front only, at least at first. Well, once I get back stateside since I'm definitely not paying Euro for one...
