Does a JCW need more care than others?

Hi all,

I heard the folks on White Roof Radio mentioned several times that in the long run, a JCW might require more maintenance work than a regular S.

Do you guys think this is an accurate statement? If yes, why?

I'm asking this question because I will probably place an order for one in the coming weeks, and I plan on running this thing as long as I can.
It will be my 4th MINI (1st JCW) and as far as my experience goes, if one follows the maintenance schedule and does a couple more oil changes here and there, there shouldn't be any big problems beside the usual wear and tear.

Thanks for the input!

The only thing I can think of is the spark plug interval on a JCW is 30k mi...other than that I can't see why a JCW requires more maintenance than an S

It shoudln't need any more maintenance than an S. An M3 doesn't require more maintenance than a 328. The maintenance itself is even the same price it's the fluids that will cost you a kidney. Since a JCW uses OTS fluids your'e good there too.

I'm new to the MINI world, but my 2011 JCW has had no problems.

Same mat schedule as an S. I still do not understand the first oil change at 15K. My dealer is doing one early on his dime when I want. Most likely at 3k.

I have not done anything to my car out of the ordinary well maintenance wise any way. At 23k miles I have changed the oil 4 times and swapped all three wiper blades.

Other than the previously mentioned plug interval, I can't think of any other maintenance you'd need more of. It's really not that different from an S mechanically.

Depends on 'usual wear and tear.' My JCW does this most every day.
"Usual", Hmmm, I think not.

The answer to your question totally depends on if you drive it like a JCW or an MCS. It's up to you. Maintenance on Abby is a daily ritual of love.

Maybe brake pads and rotors are more expense?

The brakes are different for the factory JCW.

Sweet! 150+ AND taking a picture!

Because of the pre-1200 mile break in thing, I haven't quite gone over 100 (well, once), but I have been there a few times.

Glad you have a place you can get that kind of speed.

On the Autobahn I don't check the speedo until I hit 125-130 that's when you start to feel like your really moving. I am going to be in big trouble when I take Abby bake to the US.
