Fan on and water circulation after shut down
Fan on and water circulation after shut down
Ok I have my new JCW. Had a 2010 MCS. Now when I pull into the garage and shut down the fan comes on and runs for awhile and you also here coolant being circulated by a pump. Doing this in the winter. My 2010 MCS only did once a hot summer day. Normal and just better shut down cooling for the turbo? Wonder why the MCS didn't do the same thing.
My '09 does the same thing (runs the circulation pump for what seems like an inordinate amount of time after engine shut down). From what I've been told, this is normal and necessary to cool the turbo.
The turbo is different between the Cooper "S" and the JCW; perhaps the cool-down requirements are as well...?

Equivalent function of a turbo timer
It is a good thing to let the oil and turbo cool down at a slow rate compared to just stopping circulation and oil gunking up
. It's the aux water pump... very good thing for a factory car to have.
