So i think it's time to take the plunge and paint the black arches on my jcw kit either body color or gloss black (haven't set my mind on one yet, but I would love any suggestions, i have a chili red jcw)

anybody have any pictures of their chili red jcw with arches painted? I'm having some trouble picturing it in my head.

Also, for the people who have done this, how much did your body shop charge you? Overall, how much did you end up paying? I heard you have to break the clips to take off the arches and all and then have to purchase new ones. is this true?

I was toying with going with the stormtrooper look on my last PW/W, but the sanding tired me out just thinking about it...

 

Would look like the picture attached in red, although I think gloss black would look awesome too.

might as well be black plastic if black, though ive seen glossed ones and it looks nice... just more 'not worth it' IMO

 

I have the factory Aero. Love it. This will give you a good perspective on the look of the painted aches.

Even though I have an R53 I had to chime in! On my Dark Silver JCW I had the arches painted Astro Black metallic. My body shop said it took them a while to sand down the plastic to the finish was smooth and blended with the body..

Yes, a lot of the clips did break and I had to buy a lot of new ones.

 

I have been thinking of either a vinyl wrap instead of painting. Wonder how long that stuff will last..

 

if its good 3m stuff itll last years.

Ive had Lyles Vinyl wrapped stuff on for 2 winters now. probably 30K miles+

looks great.

With vinyl id suggest gloss black, since matching paint (while very close on trim) would be rather noticeable on larger arch pieces

 

Hmm Im thinking a matt black personally or possibly matt carbon fiber.

hmm. well matte will look the same IMO, and carbon, youll have to mind the weave

 

I like the idea of the matte black. Im wondering if it will discolor like the arches do eventually?
