JCW Brake Squeal

Who has this and what have you done to get it fixed. This is getting annoying. Its been to the dealer 3 times (always as a secondary issue) for this and it keeps coming back. The car is not tracked at all. Just normal driving.

I've had my 2010 JCW for 8 days and I've heard them squeak from time to time which concerns me. Let's not forget the amount of brake dust these things generate as well. At least I'm not alone.

I had this problem with my car as well. I know yours is R56, but when I complained twice while under warranty, they told me it's normal for BMW's and Mini's to squeak under light to moderate braking.

After 2 years I couldn't take it anymore and replaced the pads with Hawk HPS. No problems now and much less dust.

Try putting some high temperature brake caliper grease on the pad backing plates, where the caliper pistons contact the plates. That's what I do on mine whenever I replace my pads. I also put some grease on the caliper pins. No problems here.

This is the stuff I use:

Thanks Fellas! Strange how its only one wheel. Normally, I would take care of this myself but I figured that experts know what they're doing so I don't want to touch anything until my warranty is up...then I need that field service manual... I like to know every nut and bolt and all procedures. It kills me not knowing what they're updating in the ECU every time it goes in for service. Every time i get it back it feels different.

AFAIK it is very common with Brembos (squeal and dust)

My car just turned 1 year old and has had the brake squeal pretty much since the day I pulled off the dealer's lot. Haven't done anything about it yet, but the car is going in for the 1st scheduled service on Monday so maybe they will apply some grease or something.

I had this alot during break-in. Someone suggested doing some 60-0 braking in a safe area. Also when washing get a high pressure spray in the calipers where dust and debris can gather.

I have just over 3300 miles on my 2010 JCW and (knock on wood) have not had squealing for some time now.
