jcw brake ducts?

to those who took a peek on their brake ducts....are they aligned inside? mine is perfect on the right side, but the left side is a bit "off"/misaligned by approx 10-15mm...though it can only be seen if you look into the hole of the ducts.

Mine are alligned. If they get put on straight they stay put. You will need to loosen the lower front bummer to adjust the off one into place. It countersinks into its spot but you wont be able to just tap it over I think

ill try realigning the bumper today and see whats the problem. the dealer had a hard time installing the bumper bcoz of the ducts and in fact replaced the first jcw bumper for the same problem. weird.

I'd guess dealer inexperience- they haven't done many yet or your car was the first for the tech. S/he was careless is all. Make sure and get a free car wash out of it. And the ducts absolutely work great on the track.

its going to take about 1.5 hrs the first time to remove the lower bumper. Follow the Alta intercooler install directions. The best thing I can add is to get a paint mixing stick from Home Depot (Free) to make releasing the upper grill easier.

reinstalled the bumper today....the right duct is perfect, the left exterior duct is still off by 10-15mm against the inner ducting. cant see it though unless you kneel and take a peek inside the ducts. must really be a manufacturing flaw as the exterior ducting is hard plastic.

I put the ducts in myself. There's a template that comes with the kit to show you where to cut the hole in the wheel well. I don't think the template for the left side is accurate, so my left side is off, too. Anyone doing it for the first time is likely to run into a similar problem.

A friend helped me install them and we had the same issue. One of the sides appeared slightly off on the template but we adjusted before we cut and the final came out fine.

the wheel well ducting goes out onto the "fixed hole" on the front facia frame right???? my bumper ducting doesnt align onto the fixed hole on the facia frame....so i dont think the template has anything to do with it??????? i presume the fixed hole is done at the factory?

So the part out of alignment is the tube that runs from the lower bumper opening to the hole in the metal frame of the car? That does take the wheel well cutting template out of the equation. When the bumper was off the car with the tubes sticking out the back, did everything look symmetric? I would measure distances between the duct openings and measure distances between the frame openings they mate to while it's off the car and eyeball for symmetry. I would think you can remove one duct or the other from the bumper and trim plastic with a hobby knife so the duct can rotate a little when reinserted, so you can line it up how it needs to go.

Otherwise post some pics
