Turbo heat shield, yes or no?

I'm thinking of ordering a turbo heat shield to keep heat away from the intake and to not melt the hood scoop. Is this OK or will it cause the turbo to not cool as much as it normally would? Thanks.

It perfectly fine. A turbo wrap or heatshield/whatever is supposed to make it run more efficiently IIRC. Keep the hot, hot, till its outta there.

And (as it should) being able to keep the engine area cooler, along with intake temps, will also help in the long run...keep that intercooler working less hard, since we all know how easy it is to heatsink those little things.

I need to place an order for one lol

Buy the M7 Heat Shield. It's worth it and you can feel the difference.

M7 Tuning

That's where we bought ours for the Camden... it's probably the only aftermarket product we will install.

or...replace scoop with the carbon fiber model? my scoop blew off driving down the highway, the cost/time to get new one painted vs getting CF was negligible. the CF won't melt.

I know this thread is pretty old but I'm thinking of getting one. How effective is it?

Very effective. The M7 and other aftermarket shields are far superior to the ones MINI is putting on now.

If you plan on getting an intake, then you could get the aem intake that comes with a heat shield
