I have a 3 month old JCW Roadster....and I installed the DoS Intake a month or so ago. The problem I keep having is my turbo inlet pipe keeps slowly sliding off. After about 200 miles, boom, it'll be off again. I've screwed the clamp down as tight as possible, but it still finds a way to slowly slide off. I unscrew the clamp, shove it all the way back on, and tighten it back down.
Anyone else have this happen? And anyone have any idea why it might be happening? It doesn't feel like anything is tight or doesn't reach. :-(
Thoughts?
Here's a pic of it today after just about 60 miles since last being put back on.

Wipe and clean the inside of the tubing and the outside of the turbocharge housing.
Make sure there's no film or oil residue on either.
If it still slides, use some aerosol hairspray on the inside the tube to make it tacky and stick.

I think Bluefox has it right. You most likely have an oily residue on the connection, making it hard to keep it together. I have never tried the hairspray method, but worth a try. My guess is, once the hose and turbo flange are clean, you'll get a good seal. Also, double check that clamp, that it is not defective.

So I'm going to clean it today....but seems like maybe I have the clamp too tight?? Yesterday when the car was hot I popped the hood to look and it had slid off again. So I loosened up the clamp, slid it back on, and while tightening it, when I got to a certain point the hose just slipped back off as I was tightening it. :-(
I have a 2009 JCW and got a yellow CEL last week. Dropped it off at the dealership and it turns out to be exactly the same problem you're describing. The turbo inlet hose had come off. They just wiped it down, cleaned it up, and clamped it back on. First time its come off in 3 years though...

Liquid, I had the same exact problem and did everything all these people are saying. None of it will help. The problem is that the connector hose between the CAI and the hard pipe is just a wee bit too long so it is forcing the whole thing forward. 2011+ MINIs have a rigid pipe between the air box and turbo. Earlier models had more of a flexible hose. The hard pipe is the problem. See in your pic how the hose is being pushed forward? Call Clint, tell him that Jerry from Savannah sent you and that you need the shorter connector. He and I went through this about a year ago.

It's the short hose with the two clamps just forward of the CAI.

Hi All,
The shorter hose that Jerry mentioned now comes standard on all our CAI kits.

From the picture above, it looks like the Narrow T-bolt Clamp is not installed on Liquid's turbo inlet. One of them should have been included in his DoS JCW CAI kit along with the 4 worm drive hose clamps = total of 5 clamps in the kit.
The clamp looks like this:

Liquid, if you do not have one of those clamps, let me know and I'll get one off to you.

Clint to the rescue! As always, awesome Customer Service from him....that's why I like buying parts from DoS. :-)
And Clint was right, that's the piece I needed I'm sure....I think my dog ate mine cause I can't find it, so I'm getting another one :-)
