Just please drive safely. I got in my most accidents between ages 16 and 20 because I didn't pay attn and i wasn't careful. You've got a pocket rocket, so pleaseeeeeee drive safely and don't abuse it's power.

P.S. Nice car.

Like most JCW owners, i enjoy the power

BUT, i am an extremely cautious and attentive driver. 1 year and a half of driving, and so far (knock on wood) no tickets or accidents. Other than the occasional 1st and second gear run, i keep it at the speed limit.

Sorry, I bought my son his when he was 13 and drove it until he was 16. It now is full carbon fiber front and rear with a rebuilt motor by RMW. He ran it without oil (these things like to leak oil) and Jan did a great job building a "very" strong motor.(wink, wink) I have also made sure by having him to two driving schools that he understands just what this thing can do.

I had a RX-7 R1 at 17 wayyyy back in '93 before I moved out and had a few close calls but I lived out in the desert so there was plenty of space to learn and play. Just be careful slick!

OXYBLUECOOP; I want a 914 so bad. I'm almost ready to sell my 66 MGB for one. Between that or an older (71) 911s. 914's are just so much fun to drive...

Happy to hear it. I wasn't cautious till about 2 years ago - I got 3 tickets in a year and was 1 away from losing my license, lol, so now I keep it under 80 (flow of traffic) and i've been ticket free for 2 years. Sucks i'll be getting the Mini Clubman S in 1 month, i'll have to behave and control myself from driving like mad

Awesome! I've heard good things about jan, one of my co-workers is friends with one of the dealers at crevier - jan built his mcs up to 242hp or so - said the power to weight ratio is between a 335 and m3, not bad! LOL - I wonder what the 0-6o is on those babys. Ok, dont mean to change the subject

Uh, drive safely!

My first at 16 was a 65 Mustang with the Hi-Po K-code motor. I sold it two years later for a 61 MGA. Still wish I had both.

Congrats! ALMOST 63 here and I've had my JCW for 2 months and love it! My wife can't figure out how a new car can be a "work in progress" with my modifications. Enjoy!

Hahahaha! OT, but I can't help myself. I had the same thing, same color, @ 19. My car was ratty tho. My favorite car emotionally. Loved it.

Totaled within months.. Way way too gone to have a 2nd chance w/it like you did.

Only difference w/mine was it was automatic (didn't like that but didn't know much better yet). Weirdest thing is after it was totaled and I started parting it out I discovered the car had something close to a 1:2 rear, with a 2:1 reduction in the tranni. A freind took the tranni and put it in his Catalina with a normal 1:3.something rear and could pull wheelies... though he was redlining around near 60 or 70. I think that rear was put is so one could have used it on an oval track if you swapped the tranni to a manual w/normal 1:1 output and built the engine.

Anyway, a JCW @ 17 would have been death to me or someone else. ....young & insane I was. Be safe there DNadar.

My firstcar was a 93 wrangler. We put a lift on it in my drive. It wa so easy to work on and a blast to drive. I did roll it but I did that while off roaring lucky at that point it was my weekend truck. It is still sitting at grandmas waiting for me to put her back into shape.

I'm surprised people on here haven't come on and whined about how its too powerful of a car for a 17 year old. (usually what happens...)

I'm young too...22, but have been around fast cars since I've been driving at the age of 16. No car is too powerful/quick if people would teach their kids responsibility. Many of my friends had very fast cars for 17 year olds, STi & EVO's, M3's, M5's, Porsches etc. We never did anything too stupid in them or hurt anybody!

Enjoy your JCW, I think it is a perfect balance of sportiness and safety for a 17 year old!

I've definitely driven faster cars than the JCW, like my brothers g37s and my dads 335i coupe. They are fast, but not nearly as fun as the JCW. They feel huge

Drive really modded Mini and then you'll see what it feels to drive a faster car than your dad's and brothers.
