I started driving my JCW at 15 and now I am 17.
Good fun.
Don't crash and give young drivers a bad rap. Too many stupid kids with too much power and don't know how to drive.
And plus, who wants to see a Mini Cooper in pieces.

+1. I've been driving modified Cooper S's / JCWs since I was 18. Not once did I crash. Sick of hearing people poo-pooing young drivers. It's all about attitude as far as I'm concerned. Keep your ego at bay, and there's no reason why you shouldn't drive a reasonably nice car at a reasonably young age
I was rocking a 1993 Pontiac Firebird Formula when I was 17. Yes, it got totaled. My tire came off the rim while making a left hand turn. The tires were dry rotted, was saving cash to buy some P7000's. Oh well live in learn. Should have got the generals.
The MIni JCW is a hell of a nice car for a 17 year old. Congrats.
51 years ago when i was 16,my first car was a 1946 Ford baby blue convert, with a 1948 Mercury engine. So much for sea stories, congratulations on your JCW.Q
Sorry, I bought my son his when he was 13 and drove it until he was 16. It now is full carbon fiber front and rear with a rebuilt motor by RMW. He ran it without oil (these things like to leak oil) and Jan did a great job building a "very" strong motor.(wink, wink) I have also made sure by having him to two driving schools that he understands just what this thing can do.
now why the hell would you want to buy a 13 year old a JCW.... What's the legal age to drive in the States? Isn't it 16... Here we only get a learners license at 17 and full license at 18.... But a 13 year old behind the wheel....not so sure...

In one of the dakotas you can drive when you are 14.
My first car was a 1970 rs/ss396 L78 4 speed camaro that i swapped a new crate Ls6 454 stock 450hp (that i bought from the chevy dealer for 900) into with a huge roller cam a singleplane L88 intake with a 1050 cfm holley and aluminum L89 heads.
heyy i got my MINI when i was 17! lol, but it aint no JCW. im 19 now, ad ive been driving my beloved R50 for almost a year and half. im more of a looks kinda guy than power.
no matter what MINI, they're always gonna be fun lol. but the JCW is a really nice ride and if i had the chance, and the money to get it i would.
Most likely am, but if i'm not chime in! I am a whopping 17 years old
Ugghhh......does it really matter? Reminds me of the Benz forums, and not in a good way. Enjoy it is all. No admonishment from me on youth and speed (I'm way out of warranty myself, it's not the years though, it's the mileage)...that horror story from the BMW forums about that kid in a M5 killing himself and his 3 friends hours after posting on the forums still gives me the chills...
