F56 squeal/whine

I have recently purchased a new f56 and is just over a week old, yesterday whilst going to overtake my car developed a very high pitch/whine the same as in the link below. Just wondering has anyone else experienced it and know if it's a problem?

F56 squeal/whine

I have mine f56 for couple of days now. I haven't experienced this so far. However, I have been babying my f56 since My car is still under break in period. Do you know how fast you were going when that happened?

That is a weird sound. Never heard that before. Could it be a body whistle from the wind on the body of the car? Did it sound like it was coming from the engine or somewhere else? Very strange sound indeed.

It sounded like it was coming from the engine and when I took my foot off the accelerator it got quiet then disappeared then when I went to accelerate again it came back. I don't think it is wind noise as I think a lot of people would have the same problem.

You've said the noise is related to engine speed. Does the car itself have to be moving in order to make the noise? If not, the source of the noise should be fairly easy to identify. Easy for your dealer, that is.

Wonder if it is an issue with the active sound module...

There was a warning tone in that video, I wonder what that was for?

What do you think of this?

No it doesn't happen when the car is at a stand still it was just when I went to overtake that I heard it.

You can set the computer to warn you when you exceed a certain set speed. That's what I think the warning sound was. I have mine set at 80. I think by default it is off but I can't recall for sure since I always set them when I get new cars.

This is good information to know! Hopefully we can get confirmation from the OP if this was it.

+1, the first warning sound should be the speed limit warning sound. I have set mine to 70km, since that's most of the street limit here, and it's very hard to not to speeding when you are driving a mini. You can double check under your settings-> speed I think. Mine was deactivated by default.
