F56 Euro Taillight Replacement

Does anyone know if programing is necessary after replacing US (Union Jack design) taillights with Euro (early style F56 design but LED) assemblies? 2024 car. Can't get a straight
answer from dealers and vendors are unsure.

Hello,

Thats going backwards on the electrical side as LCI got stock Union jacks. Dont know anyone who did that, my guess it might need some repin or programing?

I’d say yes, coding will definitely be needed, and I agree with ECS that you may need to also re-pin the connectors (if they’re the same at all). If you’re after EU lights, you’re better off picking up Vland lights and then only some minor coding changes are required.

I installed European tail lights on my North American ‘23 F56. No hardware changes are necessary. Plug and play.

I coded the tail lights to perform like they do in Europe. The main difference is that the North American tail lights have the brake lights and turn signals connected. Sorry I don’t have the exact coding changes required off the top of my head. Google is your friend.

I’m guessing you installed the European Union Jack tail lights and not the pre-2019 tail lights the OP is talking about. What you did is possible, I’ve done it myself ☺️

You’re absolutely right, I skimmed too quickly.

OP, look for a DIY on installing the union jacks on a pre-lci. They’ll have your instructions in reverse.

How do they do in Europe??

European tail lights? Amber turn signals or UK flag?

UK/Europe requires an amber turn signal. Frankly, the US should, too. Anyway, the middle bar of the sideways ‘T’ is the turn signal. The brake light is only the vertical part of the ‘T’.

I saw the Uk flag lights, yes the brake lights are too small.
went with amber turn signal euros. Large LCD brake lights are safer in mi opinion.
