Sadly, I have canceled my order and just received my refunded deposit this morning. I realize these are unprecedented times related to supply chain issues, but not getting a substantive update at all in over 5 months was too much to deal with.

I will not be doing any business with this dealer group going forward. Unfortunately they are the only MINI dealer in the Columbus area, so if I consider one again in the future I have to go to Cincinnati.
Thanks, Matt.

Sorry to hear that you canceled but given the lack of info from your dealer, I can certainly see why.

When I was at my dealer yesterday - Motor City MINI - my rep noted that they had sold two cars to out-of-state customers yesterday alone. One was from Connecticut and that customer purchased one of the two Clubman JCW cars that they had on the lot.

I'd recommend these guys and my sales rep who is now the sales manager - Richard Martinelli. He never failed to give me an update when there was a status change and it was a great purchasing experience. If nothing else when you get ready to give it another try you can give RIch a shout and see what he can do for you, too. He's a long-term employee and he knows his stuff as well.

Greetings, After several months looking for an allocation for an Oxford I had given up. I placed a pre- order for an SE this weekend and went to finalized the order today. Unfortunately, the dealer add-ons charges were too high and I decided to restart the search. I reached out to a dealer in the Tampa area and found an available allocation for an 4 door Oxford Edition. The dealer provided the production # and I placed my order this afternoon. I contacted Mini NA and they confirm the Production # is schedule to be build ton week 46th ( 3rd week of Nov) !

Congrats! Now the waiting begins so be prepared for delays. Hopefully, you don't have any but my car was ordered in May with a tentative July build and August delivery but it wasn't built until September 6th and I finally took delivery last week. I really like the car so far - especially the fun factor for not much money for a brand new car - and it was worth the wait.

I agree. Ordered April 22. Delivered four months later. But I am constantly reminded what a great deal on a great car!

I put a deposit on my 2 door 6 spd Oxford June 1st and after a long wait it is now AWAITING CARRIER ASSIGNMENT!!

Should have it early December, pretty good wait time for it but it’s a spare car so I’m ok with it.

Wasn’t sure if I would really ever get it so in mean time I bought a 2014 MCS manual and been driving it when needed. Hopefully I won’t be too disappointed with the Oxford power after driving the MCS. Will be selling the MCS soon since we don’t need it.

Now to start tracking the ship once I get the name of it.

Congrats!

I've been doing an easy break-in and currently have about 400 miles on my Oxford. I've been slowly working up the rev range where I'm now shifting at 4k RPM from time to time. I am impressed with what I've seen and felt so far performance-wise and I think that I'm going to be completely satisfied with the power on this car.

I've found that the speed on the highway gradually creeps up on me when entering the freeway. After entering the freeway I often find myself doing over 75 mph without even trying and without any strain from the powertrain. I guess I would describe it as a stealthy acceleration curve as the speedo reflects a higher speed than what I'm actually feeling. I'm like all of a sudden going how dd I get going that quickly that fast?

My car has the six-speed manual and since I haven't done any full throttle pulls during break-in and driving it like the old guy that I am, it feels that it's geared pretty tall for quiet highway cruising more than geared lower for all-out acceleration. My intended use for the car is a nice weather cruiser/touring car and for that purpose, I think the power will be spot on. As a bonus, the onboard computer is currently showing about 35 mpg average on its first tank with about 80% city driving. I have no complaints at all with that!

Thanks Bob! Now status is DISPATCHED FROM FACTORY!!

So how do you know what ship it’s on? I read your earlier post about how to track ship but don’t recall how you find the ship. It will be delivered to the port at Brunswick Ga.

Thanks

You will need to call 866-ASK-MINI and give them your production number or VIN and they will be able to tell you what ship it's assigned to. In my case, I don't think my ship was assigned until the car had been at the port for a week.

Once you know the ship you can track it online at no cost that covers within about 100 or miles or so of shore in the UK and US and you can cough up about $15 IIRC, which will allow you to track it while in the open ocean. I liked www.marinetraffic.com the best of the free services that I played with.

In addition, ask the MINI/BMW phone agent if they know the shipping line or track it down via a Google search. Knowing the line allows you to go to their website and check the schedule and see the stops along the way. It could be non-stop or it could have several before it gets to Brunswick.

If you're really obsessed like I was, it's not too early to track down if there are any webcams that you might catch the ship on as it moves up the channel to the Brunswick VDC. The VDC or other locations near the VDC may have cameras, too. Restaurants, bars, traffic cams, etc are good candidates.

I had fun tracking the ship and I'd do it all over again.

Have fun!

Finally, my Mini is transit! Will be in Baltimore on Dec 1st. Ship is Olympian Highway and I been tracking it some. So might have it around middle of December. Wow, that will make it over 6 months since I put a deposit on it. But like I mentioned, it’s a spare/fun car and really wanted the Oxford edition because it’s a pretty good deal for the money.

Sweet! Mine was a five-month adventure and I lucked out on my dealer's allocation.

I really like my Oxford for the reasons you noted, too. If you haven't seen it yet, I've got another thread on here with my likes/dislikes so far and it will be interesting to compare notes after yours comes in and you have some seat time in it. I'm about ready to park mine for the winter and will be looking forward to driving it again in the spring.
