Does anyone use the auto high beams?
Hello everyone I’m a new owner of a 2020 Cooper, mine has the auto high beams feature and this is my first car to have this. I was wondering if anyone uses this feature and if so have they had problems with people flashing their high beams at you?
thank you everyone! I’m happy to be a MINI owner again and part of a car community that doesn’t dog on each other like my last car did.

Hi RR
yeah. i use it - predominantly in rural or dual carriageway/rolling road scenarios. Its always dipped the full beams in plenty of time for traffic coming at me at 60-120 kmh ranges.
I haven't really tried it in the city to really test the quickness of the dip/dim to see if i can play nice with the general popuation and be lazy too.
My take is its one of those features i prolly wouldn't have gone out of my way to must order - but its novel.

I've used it (2020 Clubman) just to see how it works. It seems quite sensitive and dims well before oncoming traffic is close.
I have found the high beams are almost too bright in some situations, like when I head down the alley behind my home.
Best use is outside the city.
Love the side illumination when turning. Overall, headlights are improved over the ones on my 2017, which were also excellent, IMHO.

I don't believe that freak of nature is still available. My grandfather had that on his Cadillac back in the fifties. It was annoying then too. I remember he'd just put his hat over the sensor thingie that was mounted on the center of the dash board.
The Auto works well on the farmland back roads out here that are straight, but the minute I enter the canyons I switch back to regular. The system can't react fast enough and I don't want to blind anyone since they're no barriers to save your a$$ in my canyon.
Thank you for your replies, I'm not sure I'll be using it that often just wanted to see if others do.

Your concern of people flashing their lights - I've found auto high beams actually HELPS reduce this. The dim setting on my MINI is so bright that people were always flashing. With auto high beams, they see them dim and don't flash...
