Need advice for a replacement hood (pic inside)

I am interested in purchasing a hood online, but I’m unsure of the next step. Should I install the hood myself and then take it to a paint shop? Should I try and find a hood online already painted?

The only other damage is the silver around the grill. The bumper was just pushed down due to impact but no visible damage.

Thanks for advice guys. Just bought a month ago and the spouse having too much fun already.

When I damaged my front bumper, local yards didn't have a match, but I bought a replacement in the same color (pepper white also), off eBay. Had it shipped via greyhound, so that was like $70 or something. The color matched perfectly. And it's still OEM paint =) For sure I would go this route again to avoid dealing with a body shop, and the cost of painting.

I’ll definitely keep an eye out for eBay thanks for the recommendation.

The mini websites only have them primed so hoping i don’t have to go that route. Thanks again

I would be careful about ordering new body panels and having them shipped. Its not all that unusual for a panel to arrive at a body shop with a dent from shipping. Not a big deal for the body shop, they just fill in the dent before painting.

Whereas, you and I might be not happy with receiving an already dented panel. In your case, that is what you already got.

Thanks I’ve never ordered a big piece like this. Will try and get shipping insurance or money back protection

If you have to get a body shop involved anyway, might as well ask them what it would cost to fix that.
Could be cheaper than ordering and shipping a brand new bonnet

True... my plastic bumper would survive a few bumps along the way, a hood would probably need to have a custom wood crate built to fare well enough. Dunno then, I'd ask body shops what they recommend.

Paint/body work has become enormously expensive for what appears to be a small damage. I have a small dent on my tailgate and another just below the taillight and a shop I've used previously and trusted wanted $1,200. My guess is that this hood would cost $600-800 to repair/repaint Ridiculous, I know. Best thing to do is get three estimates then figure out how what your budget allows.

i may try to get a new estimate. I went to the body shop that mini suggested, and they wanted 3,100 for the repair. They wanted to replace the entire front. I quickly left.

If one does to a body shop, like that used by BMW or MINI itself, I am sure they do a "perfect" repair.

I had a vehicle that was 10 years ago. I didn't want a "perfect", better than new, spare no expense, repair. I wanted simply one that was good enough. Take out the dent and shoot some paint over it. I found my local Maaco shop was willing to do just that.

i was initially skeptical because I read that the dent being on the edge was nearly impossible to fix. May call them as one of the couple options thanks

Do you have a local PDR (paintless dent repair) company local? i'm sure that could be either knocked out from behind or glue pulled and knocked down?

Yeah those are around. I had read that the dent being on the edge was near impossible to fix without possibly doing more damage. So I was unsure about going that route.

I may go around next week and get a couple quotes if it’s possible to knock out though.

I had a look at my bonnet today and noticed there is a hole behind that section where it will be possible for a PDR tool to get behind the dent to push it out
