Has anyone else seen this?

It was finally warm enough today to detail the Mini after a long winter.
As I was handwashing I noticed some little orange dots on the paint. I thought they might be road goo, but they would not wash off. I looked closer and noticed they appeared to be rust. I have not seen this in probably 20 years. They appear to be under the clearcoat as I cannot feel them and they do not wash off (I tried Googone too). I can't tell if the flakes in the paint are the cause or if they did a horrible primer job at the factory.
Has anyone ever seen this before? It's definitely a warranty issue, but I doubt anything can be done.
My only worry is that it will kill the resale value in a few years when I trade it in.

Iron contamination is a common problem on cars due to the brake linings, railways, etc
1st thing to try is a fallout remover such as Iron-X which you spray onto the paintwork/ wheels and leave for a few minutes. You'll see your perfectly clean (so you thought) car turning purple in streaks as this is the product reacting with the iron particles in your paint.
After a few minutes wash it off
