F55/F56 Another Dinan Elite question

Another Dinan Elite question
I have a 2019 F56S with the JCW tune and the JCW model Dinan Elite. I've noticed that when I watch the sport display in the mini, the HP nor Torque gauges will max out. They come just shy of it. When I stick in the bypass for the Dinan, the gauges max out. Is this normal? I called Dinan about it and they're reply was it was normal because of they way the Elite works.
Does anyone else with an Elite see the HP increase with the built in sport display?

The torque/hp "gauge" on the screen calculates based on data from the car's computer. It is not actually measuring either torque or horse power.
The Dinan "tricks" the car's computer by intercepting sensor outputs and tweaking them -- in a sense the Dinan is "fooling" your car's computer so that the car will demand more boost or more fuel or a combination thereof.
So, just as the computer is fooled by the sensor data from the Dinan, the gauge is also fooled. Thus the screen gauge will not read correctly what the engine is putting out or what the wheels are getting in the way of torque or horse power.
Bad data in -- bad data out, so to speak.

Personally, I'm a butt dyno guy. And, with a tuning box, the butt dyno doesn't lie!!

The published gain numbers a JCW tune produces are not all that inspiring (in fact they are pretty pathetic). However, after the install, the "butt dyno" tells a completely different story.
Quite honestly, the only time I ever looked at the Mini Excitement numbers, was to verify the JCW tune was correctly done (240/240).

Well, that's kinda the problem. The butt dyne isn't really noticing a difference. So I'm looking at either a broken butt-dyno, or a non-functioning unit. That's the main reason I'm asking. Don't get me wrong, the thing is a blast to drive (2nd favorite vehicle, to be sure), but I wan't to make sure the $$ spent is doing it's job

FWIW, I had an Elite installed on my M240i and it literally turned the car into a rocket. Comparing it to the C7 I traded for it, I find the straight line performance to be about even. It is actually scary when applying too much accelerator.
If the Dinan allows for BT control (the Dinan .v1 Elite for the M240i did and the .v2 replacement does not), try turning it off and playing with the car. Get a good feel for dead stop and rolling accelerations, then switch the Dinan and compare. If there is not a markedly felt improvement, I'd contact the installer or Dinan (if you did the install). This would not be the first time there has been a defective Dinan module.

You should be noticing a difference right away. There was another guy that posted not too long ago about not noticing a difference and his shop installed in incorrectly. They took it back, got it installed the right way, and he noticed the difference as he was leaving the shop. I could feel the bump in power as soon as I drove mine with the Elite as well.
