Help ME Please

Picked up a new MINI today. When I turned off the engine the ignition switch keeps flashing red, is this normal?
Help. Thanks

Thank goodness it turned off. I guess it was on for at least 10 minutes. Once I can figure out the onfotainmentstuff.I thought the dealer set for 10 minutes. Any insights, would be helpful . My older MINIS weren’t jazzed up like this one.

Hit the switch TWICE but foot must be off the brake each time. Or it start ignition cycle again.

Don't feel bad. I couldn't figure out how I lost my digital speed read-out and it wouldn't come back. I stopped at the dealer. He explained the turn signal stalk button cycles back through to get it.

Ugh...I was totally embarrassed. My only defense (all-be-it a weak defense) was, from my drivers view, I couldn't see the print on the stalk to realize there were two separate buttons on it. I actually did try to push it (I was guessing at anything) but my finger was on the tiny divider between the buttons and nothing was happening. And I've owned this thing for two months. Humiliating...
...
So, no harm asking anything here.

In addition to the other notes, you can actually close and lock the doors and that will turn off the red light too.

Basically, this is like the “accessory” position on an old turn-key ignition, which had four positions (off, accessory, engine power, ignition).

Don't feel to bad, I think we all had something like this. For months I was convinced I had to do the second press or the whole system would stay on. The car is smarter than I am, as it turns out.

Well, it appears the only way the red light around the ignition goes off- only after I close and lock the doors. If I forget to lock the doors ie. In the garage does it finally turn off on its’ own? How long before it turns off on its’ own?Does that draw much battery?
I have noticed no difference with my foot on the brake or off. The light does not extinguish after 2 clicks. . I have a manual, not sure if the brake thing may work with auto, and not manual.
What started as a simple solution, seems to be getting more complicated
My quest for truth continues. Learned, experienced ones please share. Thanks. Nick

Wait until you notice the whirring noise when you open the door. Just know that the car will eventually go to sleep and the lights will go off. Takes about 5 minutes.

I believe this is the "Heartbeat" option you are experiencing. If I remember right you can select an on/off for the "Heartbeat" in your settings for the center display. I can check later when I'm in my car and verify later.

Thanks. You are right. The heartbeat. When you get a chance please post how to turn off. I got so stuck on this I haven”t really got into the meat of all this car can do. I did get it tinted today. Also figured out if I turn off the DSC, keep in sport and use the BT Pro exhaust button the bad boy is fantastic music to my aging ears. Just love it. No need for exhaust mods. Nick

" If you want to turn off the heartbeat, on the headunit, go to SETTINGS --> CENTER INSTRUMENT --> EVENT DISPLAY and uncheck "Heartbeat". You can also enable/disable other events the light ring reacts to. "
