No connection option for classic iPod in 2019 Mini S 2-door?
Hi all! So I recently bought a new 2019 Mini Cooper S 2-door hardtop, after 12 great years with my 2007 Mini. It's so neat to have the Bluetooth capabilities and USB ports in order to connect my iPhone, however I do still own and use my classic iPod, since it has more storage space for music. Thing is, if I recall what I told by the dealer, the 2019 Mini Cooper S does not have an aux port, as the old Mini Coopers did. If I use a USB cord adaptor from my iPod to the USB port, it will charge the iPod but can't recognize the contents, none of the music tracks. In looking online, it used to be recommended to use a Y-cable to plug the iPod into both the USB and Aux ports - but with no aux port in the 2019 Mini it seems I am out of luck, there isn't a way to play my iPod. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions!
What file format does it recognize for audio files? Thanks!
Depends on your level of audio system. My wifes car does several including FLAC which I prefer. Mine is the basic head unit and does MP3, AAC and a few others as I recall. I mostly use AAC. Sadly most of my files are in FLAC and I have to convert them to use them in my car. Probably in owners manual.
Thanks much, I will certainly look into those brands! Glad I wasn't the only one who was encountering this issue, otherwise I love everything about my new Mini.
This should be all you need for a classic iPod connection, no aux port/Y cable connection required.
Will charge/play and display all album artwork from a classic iPod device while just plugged into the usb slot.
