Classic IPod connection

hey everyone... I've tried a bunch of searches to see if I could find an answer, but... no such luck... stopped by the dealer today to pick up the IPod/USB connector as my car was spec'd with it but it was long gone when I got it... the stereo instantly read the IPod, song title, etc... I could change tracks... but I have NO sound - zero... tried the clickwheel, the volume ****, the control panel... I couldn't get even static...

thoughts?

What year of MINI and which iPod connector?

With a Y connector I'd check the audio plug is plugged in correctly. With the 30 pin flying lead, I'd suspect its not installed correctly.

it's a 2010 MCS and it's an old IPod Classic... I'll be sure to try the connection again today for the drive to work... admittedly, it was a little rushed trying to get out of the dealer lot yesterday...

Still the question of which iPod connection you have. Is it the one with the Y cable? (30 pin on one end, box in the middle and USB and audio plugs on the other.) Or do you have the dealer installed one where a white 30 pin connector emerges in the glovebox or hidden compartment?

sorry about that... it's a dealer supplied Y cable with the connection at the base of the dash, below the stereo...

First would be to make sure the audio plug is plugged in correctly.

Next check the level. I think you should have a button labled "Lev" on the main screen. Make sure that's at a reasonable volume.

Next you could try plugging something else in the audio portion (without the USB part), and see if you get any sound when you select Aux.

If he's using the Y cable, iPod volume has no effect on the audio output.
