Has anyone installed a larger Tach?

Hi all,

I just got my F56 JCW recently and I must say the tach on it is tiny. Anyone know of any tach that can be installed easily aftermarket? Thanks!

I'm planning on adding a sequential shift light. Easier to see without looking at it. Will post results once I'm done. Likely going with something called Chippernut, but the Trac-Pac looks interesting too.

Do you have the HUD? I think there's a track mode or something on there with tach?

There is a tach wire on the OBD2 harness. Then you also need to get a positive / ignition, and ground somewhere of course. Oh, but I think my biggest issue is, if I recall, it doesn't auto-dim with headlights on. The Chippernut and some others have another wire that goes to your lights switch for that.

The tach is probably the weakest design feature on the F56 hands down. I only have the radio (my preference) and there’s room for a speedo in the center pod where the speedo should be on a MINI! There should be a tach straight behind the steering wheel complete with the gear change indicator, etc. My bet is MINI was pushing the steptronic auto transmission from the get go, so having a tach in the forefront wasn’t even a consideration! Bad move! I rarely even look at mine, shifting by ear like in the old days! I might add a Sun Tach on the top of the dash like in the old days as well! LOL!

One other solution is to set the circumferential light on the center pod to match the tachometer revs, which I did do & it helps but not as good as a tach dial straight ahead. Of course you need to have the JCW pod to do this.

I'd love to be able to swap the tach and speedo. Also, i despise the fuel gauge. I know its archaic but I like the traditional face indicator

At least the Tach & Speedo aren’t digital gauges!
