Rev Hang between shifts

Has anyone figured a way to get rid of this? It's apparently an emissions based feature, or maybe it's similar to some of the older BMWs that had CDV's. Will a Bytetroniks tune do the trick?

Are you talking about rev matching? I believe that turning off traction control defeats it. Don't know for sure as I'm limited to auto transmission at this point in time.

Nope, it's a mostly manual "feature" that came out in after 2007. The majority of cars have a rev hang after you attempt to shift in the manual transmission into a higher gear

Bump for an old thread. Are there any tunes out there that reduce or eliminate this? Is the only option to 'feather' the clutch on the 1>2 shift?

If I get a clunk when letting out the clutch this way, is that a motor mount or suspension bushing?

Tough to tell if the "clunk" you're describing is normal without hearing it in person. If you could take a video we may be able to offer better advice, but to me it still sounds like you're just letting the clutch out too quick and it's bucking a bit. Try to be gentler when actuating the pedals?

In regards to the tune eliminating rev hang, I can say that I have a co-worker with a VW Golf R who got a tune and it DID eliminate his rev hang. You may want to speak with ECS Tuning or the NM Engineering folks to see if they can help you find a tune that does this.

I just purchased a new to me 2017 F56S. When I drive it I always hold the DSC toggle down until the inactive notice pops up on the center cluster. This seems to greatly reduce the artificial feeling of rev matches upon down shifts.

Reviving an old thread and first post.

for those who don’t know, rev hang is the rpms staying high during a gear change. So when you go from first to second in a manual, the rpms take quite a while to drop down, which makes it harder to drive this car fast. Drive a Miata and you‘ll feel the difference in how fast you can change gears.

This is totally different from rev matching, which happens automatically isn’t he niki unless DSC is fully disengaged.

there are 2 things that contribute to rev hang: tune and heavy flywheels. The dual mass flywheel in this car is heavy for emissions and fuel economy purposes. The tune, however, seems like it could be fixed to remove some of the annoying rev hang that BMW/MINI programs in this car.

have any of the tunes out there figured out how to Reduce the amount of rev hang for the f56? If so, I will give you money and be a very happy customer.

dinan, awe, NM? Can any of you make this mod and make the mini even more fun to drive?

Clutch slipping due to Clutch Delay Valve BMW likes to install in slave cylinder. Do search on CDV valve on Mini. This is supposed to make shifting smoother (for someone who is not so good with a clutch). There is a restrict or plate in the slave cylinder (1-1.5mm hole) that can be pulled out and drilled larger (big as you can make it without destroying the plate (plastic)
Go to post #3 in https://www.minif56.com/threads/is-t...lve-cdv.87255/. There is more info on BMW forums on cars that use B46/B48 engines.

I haven't visited my own thread in awhile, but I don't really know if the CDV has anything to do with rev hang. A more clear description of rev hang is here:

http://www.revhang.altervista.org/

So the real question is...it's 2020. Has anyone flashed the ECU to get rid of this? They've done with with Fords/Volkswagens...

I'm wondering about this too... The CDV delete is one thing, and is a hydraulic/mechanical issue which is very simple to cure. But this rev-hang nonsense is absolutely atrocious in my new 2021 JCW. This is not a dual mass flywheel issue either; this is purely a ECU/DME problem. They're keeping the fuel flowing when it should be a hard fuel cut.... but as we now know, overall emissions are slightly worse with a hard fuel cut, so here comes the rev-hang B.S. (which ironically slightly worsens fuel economy!) It would be really nice if "rev-hang on/off" was a part of the sport setting, much like the rev-matching feature for downshifts. But if it's emissions related, there's no way they're going to give you control over it with a toggle switch.

It appears Prototype-R offers this in their custom ECU tunes. I haven't gotten around to ordering it yet but I have talked with him.

Any F56 rev-hang updates from around the globe? I heard DINAN is coming out with something too? I'm getting really sick of the rev-hang, as well as lack of exhaust burbles (and my USA spec car doesn't even have the particulate filter on the exhaust)...

Subscribed ! I can not stand the 3rd generation because of things like the clutch and Rev hang! Also feels unstable when going "fast". I have a 2019 3door S, which is my 5th mini cooper. My 2010 jcw was so so much better along with my 2012 S
