Fog Lights but no switch?

Hi all - another question - just purchased a used (2k miles) 2018 Cooper S hatch - replacing my 2005 S, so I'm trying to figure out all the new gadgets.

So my question is - I have two red lights on the back of the car, they're below the bumper in the rear "grill" area. They seem to be rear fog lights - but I don't have a switch to turn them on. I have a switch for the front fog lights and right below that switch is a dummy spot where the rear switch would be, but no switch.

I don't know what else those lights would be for? They aren't brake lights, they aren't turn signals, not back up lights, not flashers???

If you don't order the rear fog lights, do they just put in the lens and not the switch?

Any ideas?

The rear fog lights are complete and wired.

You'll need a new headlight switch that has the fog button.
Then code the fogs to work.

There is a long thread about this. Search it out here.

It's a pretty cool safety feature to have them light up as brake lights. I've started to notice how many other cars on the road have bad brake light visibility compared to a coded F56! Next up would be a flashing neon that said PLEASE DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE - IDIOT BEHIND ME!

Its ridiculous and scary.

Although what scares me is the amount of past drunk drivers there are. In Minnesota, all convicted DUI idiots have to get a bright white license plate that starts with a W (nicknamed whiskey plates) and I cant tell you how many of them I see on my daily drive to and from work.

If we had that in SoCal, 99% of license plates would be that way!!!

So ridiculous. To be honest, this should be noted, and at the least, noted with any car that will get the LED nice headlights...don’t you agree? I didn’t know about this when I bought mine off the lot new, but if I had, I probably would’ve worked the cost of the dealer install into the cost of my lease...after all, it’s their car. Now, it’d be an out of pocket expense...and one of the loves was the beauty front lighting package. Anyway whatever. Can I code this stuff myself on the lease or not?

Yeah I can pretty much guarantee that the advisor won’t even notice the lights when you turn in back in.
