F55/F56 My New MINI Is Dutch!
My New MINI Is Dutch!
According to, http://bimmer.work/ , the 2017 F55 MINI I'm buying was made in Born, Netherlands by a contract vehicle assembler, whatever that is.
I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Yep, I know that
I heard most of them in production were for the euro market and then trailing into the US at some time in the future. Most US stock if not all was from Oxford and then, of course, the R60/R61 platform from Austria.

I think I'm joking, but maybe not....you might end up with an F55 with no squeeks or rattles. Won't that be nice! The Dutch have assembled cars for many years for Volvo and others. It can't be any worse than Oxford (not that Ox is bad by any means).

Born produces the Hardtops (2 and 4 doors, with the exception of the JCW), the Convertibles (exclusively), and the F60 Countryman (also exclusively). The only cars that are all Oxford are the JCW Hardtops and the Clubman.
That link indicates Born for my f55, the window sticker, which I have in front of me says 35% Germany and 25% UK for parts with Final Assembly Point being Oxford, United Kingdom.

I'm going to believe the window sticker, as there has to be some legal ramifications of lying on it, in the US. Where the site doesn't seem to be official. But honestly, that is just conjecture on my part, as I know nothing about the site. ;-)

Who cares where they come from -- it's where they take you and how much fun you have getting there in your MINI.
Based on the link below, I'm not so sure that the car wasn't built in England.
I guess I'll wait 'til I see the window sticker.

I seem to recall there is one number or letter in your VIN that indicates the plant it was built in, the 11th digit [7th last]. Mine is a T which is for Oxford.
